You’ll conduct thorough audiological assessments, meticulously documenting your findings through a web-based system.Your expertise will provide crucial information to the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, enabling them to make informed disability determinations. This is a full-time, in-person contract position located in Sacramento, CA. Skills• Doctor of Audiology degree (Au.D)• Master’s or Doctorate degree from a university accredited by ACAE, CAA, or ASHA Certification• Manual dexterity to calibrate equipment• Proficiency with computers, including bolthires Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and EMR systems• Ability to perform focused evaluations on all bodily systems• Strong professional communication skills, critical thinking abilities, and informed-care decision-making skills• Ability to work independently and manage time effectively to meet deadlines while providing high-quality serviceResponsibilities• Administer and interpret a range of audiological tests, including puretone threshold testing, speech recognition testing, Stenger testing, acoustic immittance testing, and bone conduction testing• Prepare detailed reports, maintain the audiological suite, and manage materials and supplies• Thoroughly review order requests, medical history (including service records and previous exams), and provide well-supported medical opinions, including refuting previous opinions when necessary• Perform occasional removal of soft cerumen• Complete Disability Benefits Questionnaires (DBQs) and Medical Opinions (MOs) accurately and comprehensively through the Electronic Medical Records System (EMR), ensuring a full understanding of the veteran’s claimed conditions• Clearly explain the exam process to the veteran, confirming claimed conditions with empathy and respect• Complete and submit charts and exams within 24-48 hours of the appointment• Follow established protocols for behavioral health or medical emergencies• Demonstrate a commitment to serving veterans, including those with service animals, ensuring a welcoming and inclusive environmentQualifications• Doctor of Audiology degree (Au.D)• A Master’s or Doctorate degree from a university accredited by ACAE, CAA, or ASHA CertificationEducation Requirements• Doctor of Audiology degree (Au.D)Education Requirements Credential Category• Doctorate degreeExperience Requirements• Prior experience in clinical settings is a plus• Prior VA or C&P experience preferredWhy work in Sacramento, CASacramento offers a vibrant lifestyle with a blend of cultural, historical, and recreational opportunities.With its rich arts scene, diverse culinary offerings, and numerous parks and outdoor activities, Sacramento provides an enjoyable environment for both personal and professional growth.
