The mentor will engage in regular outreach, answer questions, share helpful tips, and encourage involvement in campus life, all while fostering a supportive and inclusive environment. The mentorship cycle starts at the beginning of the summer, and runs through the end of the spring semester. Please note:This position may not have consistent or guaranteed weekly hours. Workload will vary depending on student engagement, outreach needs, and program activity.Responsibilities: Initiate and maintain regular text-based communication with assigned transfer students. Provide accurate information about campus resources, events, and services. Share personal experiences and tips to help transfer students navigate their transition. Respond promptly and professionally to student inquiries and concerns. Encourage participation in campus activities and academic support programs. Track communication and engagement using designated platforms. Collaborate with staff to identify student needs and refer them to appropriate services.Maintain confidentiality and uphold FERPA guidelines in all communications. Attend training sessions and team meetings as required. Other duties as assigned MinimumQualifications: Be in good academic standing Ability to work a flexible schedule. Must have patience, sensitivity, and interpersonal skills to work with all students. Must be punctual and dependable, and promptly notify supervisor by email of absence. Ability to work independently Maintain a positive work atmosphere by behaving and communicating in a cooperative manner with all students, co-workers, Educational Success Center staff, and supervisors.Mentor Collective is a texting-based platform offered to all new incoming first-year students that will pair them with a paid ESC Employee who will serve as mentors as part of their first year experience. We anticipate that the majority of students will likely be successful with standard monthly outreach; select students may require additional outreach throughout the year. Eligibility: To be eligible for student employment during the Academic Year, a student must be enrolled at least half time at UW-Superior for the current semester.Notice to New Employees: Employment will require a criminal background check.
