Senior Systems Engineer - High-Performance Data Pipeline (M38 Project)
We are seeking aSenior Systems Engineer with deep experience in C, C++, or Rust, capable of building high-performance data pipelines and custom transform or compression logic from scratch. The ideal candidate has hands-on experience working directly with raw binary data, in-memory buffers, and bit-level operations, and has previously developed or optimized codecs, real-time streaming pipelines, or similar performance-critical systems. This engineer must be execution-driven, able to work independently, and confident in rapidly producing a clean, validated proof-of-concept based on a clear technical specification.M38 Challenge (Interview Technical Assessment):As part of the interview process, qualified candidates will complete a short engineering challenge designed to demonstrate their ability to build a minimal data-transform pipeline. The challenge involves writing a compact CLI tool that ingests a sample data file, performs a simple reversible transformation, outputs benchmark metrics, and verifies bit-for-bit fidelity through a decomposition step. This challenge does not reveal any proprietary algorithms, but it allows candidates to demonstrate mastery of buffer handling, performance optimization, reversible transforms, and test-harness construction – the same foundational skills required for the full M38 proof-of-concept.Responsibilities:- Design and implement high-performance data-processing pipelines- Build reversible transform/encode/decode paths with strict fidelity verification- Develop clean benchmarking and performance-testing harnesses- Work directly with raw binary data, memory buffers, and low-level operations- Collaborate with technical leadership to refine transform architecture- Deliver clear, well-structured code suitable for rapid evaluation and scalingQualifications:- 7+ years of systems engineering or low-level performance programming- Expert proficiency in C, C++, or Rust- Demonstrated experience with custom compression, transform pipelines, or codec development- Strong understanding of CPU/memory performance, buffers, and data structures- Ability to independently deliver functional prototypes under tight timelines- Experience with real-time or streaming systems is strongly preferredPlease submit your resume, a brief summary of relevant projects, and any links to code samples or past work.Company DescriptionM38 Quantum is a breakthrough deep-technology company developing next-generation data-efficiency architecture that has the potential to redefine how AI, cloud infrastructure, and advanced computing systems operate.
