Database Administrator (DBA) - SeniorSecurity Clearance: IT-I - Critical Sensitive (Tier 5/SSBI)/ High RiskClearance: Top SECRETIA Level: IAT II (Sec+ CE)Job Location: RemoteBe available to support meetings at DLA Columbus, OH, and/or Fort Belvoir, VAOverview:Nationwide IT Services, NIS, is seeking a DBA-Sr. for a potential opportunity to provide all activities related to the administration of computerized databases, long-range requirements for database administration and design, in conjunction with other managers in the information systems function.Designs, creates, and maintains databases in a client/server environment. Key Responsibilities:Conducts quality control and auditing of databases in a client/server environment to ensure accurate and appropriate use of data. Advises users on access to various client/server databases. Designs, implements, and maintains complex databases with respect to JCL, access methods, access time, device allocation, validation checks, organization, protection and security, documentation, and statistical methods.Applies knowledge and experience with database technologies, development methodologies, and front-end /back-end programming languages (e.g., SQL). Performs database programming and supports systems design. Includes maintenance of database dictionaries, overall monitoring of standards and procedures, file design and storage, and integration of systems through database design. Required Qualifications (Must-Haves):• Five (5) years of progressive experience with database query languages such as Oracle, PL SQL, and SQL Server.• Three (3) years of hands-on experience and expertise in Relational databases• Management Systems. Experience should also include the ability to work of various operating systems and additional programming languages. • Has experience in at least two projects in a large organization responsible for administering, operating, maintaining, and securing a large-scale computer database. • Five (5) years of hands-on experience supporting Department of Defense (DoD) IT hosting solutions. Security/Certification Requirements:Sensitivity Level: IT-I - Critical Sensitive (Tier 5/SSBI)/ High RiskClearance: SECRETIA Level: IAT II8570.01-M Baseline Certification:One of the following bolthires Cloud Platform or certifications:• bolthires Associate Cloud Engineer• bolthiresProfessional Cloud ArchitectPlus, current DBA certification under "Server Admin" Role, "DBA Admin" Function of DLA Approved Cybersecurity (CS) Computing Environment (CE) ListRequiredExperience: Performing the Following tasks/Responsibilities:• Hands-on working experience and proficiencies in Oracle database technologies (19c or above) and administration, including installation, configuration, performance tuning, backup and recovery, and security management in virtual cloud environments.• Hands-on experience with commercial cloud provider hosting solutions (i.e., bolthires, bolthires Azure, AWS, OCI) and associated relevant industry certifications. • Proficiency and full familiarity with the Linux/Unix (RHEL8 or above) operating system environment where Oracle databases are deployed, including the ability to write and update shell scripts, perform file system management, and Oracle database administration tasks• Must have the ability to identify, diagnose, and troubleshoot performance issues to tune and implement performance-enhancing features.• Working knowledge of Oracle Enterprise Monitoring (OEM 13c) database monitoring, diagnostic, and performance tuning tools. • Full understanding and proficiency in implementing backup and recovery operations utilizing RMAN to ensure data protection, redundancy, and disaster recovery over the network• Full understanding and expertise in understanding Oracle Database architecture, including logical and physical design, data modeling, normalization, indexing, partitioning, and database options such as Oracle RAC (Real Application Clusters) and Oracle Data Guard.• Experience with Oracle High Availability solutions and technologies for ensuring database availability, failover, and data protection. • Proficiency and understanding of network fundamentals, VPNs, firewalls, and remote access solutions, and being fully competent to configure network settings for Oracle Database servers, including IP addresses, subnet masks, gateways, protocols, and encryption. Understanding and experience with database links and replication mechanisms for connecting Oracle Databases across a network environment and synchronizing data between distributed databases can facilitate load balancing and failover where required.• Has demonstrated and has strong communication and collaboration skills that show the ability to perform in high-pressure situations and has experience professionally handling critical business incidents with adaptability and resilience to unexpected challenges, both calmly and efficiently• Experience with industry script languages and solutions to implement and sustain Automation capabilities to complete administrative tasks• Familiar with current/recent versions of Windows operating systems,• Proficient in managing and supporting various versions of SQL Server, including SQL Server 2016 and newer, ensuring smooth migration, upgrade, and compatibility across different environments• Familiarity in deploying, configuring, and managing cloud native database solutions.About Nationwide IT ServicesNIS is an IT and Management consulting company and is a CVE-verified Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Business.
