Cost Accountant/Controller

The Cost Accountant/Controller supports the financial operations of NHI Commercial by managing day-to-day accounting tasks, maintaining accurate records, and ensuring efficient handling of accounts payable, receivables, payroll, and inventory. This role plays a key part in keeping projects financially organized, supporting job cost tracking, and maintaining compliance with company policies and accounting standards. Key Responsibilities:• Oversee the company’s accounting operations and financial health, including financial reporting, budgeting and risk management• Record daily financial transactions and maintain accurate ledgers• Process accounts payable and accounts receivable, including invoice entry, payment posting and reconciliations• Reconcile bank and credit card statements monthly• Oversee inventory control, including monitoring material usage, tracking stock levels and reconciling physical counts• Prepare journal entries and maintain general ledger accuracy• Track and reconcile job costs, materials and project related expenses• Support audits and other financial projects as neededQualifications:• Associate’s or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or related field preferred• 4+ years of cost accounting/controller experience, preferably in the construction industry• Proficiency in accounting software (QuickBooks)• Excellent written, verbal, and telephonic communication• Familiarity with job cost accounting and project billing methods• Strong knowledge of Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office tools• Excellent attention to detail and accuracy• Strong organizational and time-management skills• Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive financial informationSalary Range: $60,000 - $70,000 annually, depending on qualifications and experienceWork Arrangement:This role is fully on-site at our Lansing office.Remote work is not permitted due to the hands-on nature of the position and the need for close coordination with project and accounting teams.
