Summary of RoleThe Cost Accountant performs duties related to the recording of costs for raw material, work-in-process and finished goods in the ERP system, records month-end variance and adjusting journal entries, calculates new standard rates each budget year and prepares cost quotes for new items upon request.Essential Duties and Responsibilitieso Maintain documentation of processing fees from contract manufactureso Generate and analyze purchase price variance reportso Calculate and maintain product standard costso Analyze standard to actual cost of goods sold varianceso Prepare formula validations for reviewo Preparation of production reports for month-endo Maintain appropriate documentation for new standards' development in accordance with the annual budgeting processo Maintain a schedule of critical month-end procedures and processeso Ensure validity and accuracy of ERP through analysis, internal audit, and production varianceso Provide support documentation to all 3rd party auditorso Ensure month-end close activities related to cost accounting are completed timely and accuratelyo Complete balance sheet reconciliations for accounts in assigned area of responsibilityo Timely and accurate completion of dutieso Regular and punctual attendance, physical presence in the workplace when requiredo Subject matter expert for SAP migration project.Additional Duties and Responsibilitieso Demonstrates self-initiative and takes responsibility to understand and complete daily tasks while asking for clarification or coaching as needed; follows through on commitments and is a trusted team member. o Actively participates in a variety of learning and talent development opportunities, formal and informal, to build knowledge and skills; initiates and establishes goals for professional development. o Assists peers with work related issues and offers assistance and knowledge to help with successful resolutions, proactively helps team resolve conflict, avoids making judgements or jumping to conclusions.o Demonstrates a professional work environment by meeting attendance guidelines with proactive communication of planned work absences. o Actively participates in tasks and projects to build on and expand functional accounting department and technical knowledge in subject area. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilitieso Bachelor's degree in accounting or financeo 3-5 years' work experience in a robust automated accounting environment. o Problem analysis and problem-solving skillso Technical accounting knowledge and skills including knowledge of GAAP and IFRS.o Experience with complex platform ERP implementation is a plus. o Organizational skills and attention to details. o Demonstrated knowledge in MS office and SAP accounting software preferred. o Demonstrated ability to analyze data and develop solutions to solve problems. o Ability to listen actively, problem solve, and communicate with other departments. o Ability to manage, adapt and intentionally promote change. o Self-starter with initiative and desire to promote process improvements and efficiencies.o Can do, positive mentality assisting to reach the team and Cooperative's goals. o Ability to handle a diverse workload, multiple tasks, and deadlines as well as project management. o Limited travel to other cooperative sites or training may be required.
