We operate the world’s largest online genealogy database and collaborate with various vendors to digitize and index historical documents for genealogical research. As a Vendor Indexing Project Quality Analyst at Family Search, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the accuracy and quality of indexed records produced by our vendor partners.You will be responsible for meticulously reviewing and auditing indexed data, providing valuable feedback to vendors, and ensuring that all genealogical records meet our high standards of excellence. This role combines your passion for family history research with your keen eye for detail and commitment to accuracy. Strong knowledge of genealogy and family history research methodologies. Strong background and proven skills in data analysisExperience in data analysis tools like SQL, Data Flux, Business Objects, Java and Python. Detail-oriented with exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills. Excellent written and verbal communication skills to provide feedback effectively. Ability to work independently and efficiently manage time and priorities.Proficient in using genealogical software and databases. Ability to work with records in different languages by identifying keywords and patterns, comparing images within the collection, and using language tools such as google translate and other language websites for assistance. Prior experience with data auditing or quality assurance. Data Auditing:Review and audit indexed genealogical records received from vendor partners to assess the accuracy, completeness, and adherence to indexing guidelines set by Family Search.SQL Query Development:Utilize SQL to query and analyze data for in-depth assessment and validation. Develop and optimize SQL queries to extract, transform, and analyze large datasets. Quality Assurance:Implement quality control measures to identify and address discrepancies, errors, and inconsistencies in the indexed data. Feedback and Reporting:Provide timely and constructive feedback to vendor partners regarding indexing performance, addressing any issues and recommending improvements. Training and Support:Collaborate with vendors to provide training and support on indexing guidelines, best practices, and data quality improvement.Collaboration:Work closely with cross-functional teams, including project managers and other department stakeholders to ensure seamless communication and coordination with vendors. Collaborate with database administrators to ensure efficient data retrieval and storage. Metrics and Reporting:Track and report on the overall quality of indexed data, monitoring progress, and making data-driven decisions to enhance efficiency and accuracy. Process Improvement:Continuously evaluate and enhance the auditing process to improve efficiency and effectiveness.Documentation:Maintain comprehensive documentation of auditing activities, issues identified, and the resolution process. Research and Stay Updated:Stay informed about new technologies, genealogical research methods, historical context, and industry trends to enhance your understanding of indexed records and maintain the highest level of accuracy.
