Senior Records Information Management (RIM) Specialist

OverviewDecisionPoint seeks aSenior Records Information Management (RIM) Specialist to lead MC&FP's enterprise social and web records management program. This senior role ensures that all digital records-including website content, social media artifacts, digital communications, and multimedia-adhere to DoDI 5015.02, federal records laws, and National Archives and Records Administration (NARA) requirements. The RIM Specialist oversees permanent record workflows, ensures accurate classification, manages retention and disposition schedules, prepares NARA submission packages, and produces compliance reports for leadership.This role also strengthens digital governance by advising PMO, O&E, and IT/Cyber teams on proper handling, capture, and lifecycle management of mission-critical records. Duties & ResponsibilitiesTheSenior RIM Specialist will:• Lead enterprise-wide records management activities for social media, web content, digital communications, and multimedia records.• Ensure full compliance with DoDI 5015.02, federal records statutes, and NARA directives. • Maintain and update records retention and disposition schedules and ensure adherence across all directorates. • Develop compliance reports, dashboards, and metrics for leadership. • Manage permanent record workflows, including identification, capture, preservation, and NARA preparation. • Coordinate with legal, cybersecurity, content governance, and IT teams to enforce proper record creation, storage, and lifecycle processes.• Review digital artifacts for appropriate metadata, tagging, and classification. • Oversee documentation and SOPs for digital records governance. • Support internal audits, readiness reviews, and compliance inspections. • Provide training to program staff on proper records handling and retention requirements. • Advise PMO and O&E teams on digital platform practices to ensure compliant record capture. • Maintain secure, organized repositories and ensure long-term accessibility of historical or permanent record sets.QualificationsClearance RequirementMust hold an active Secret clearance, supported by a Tier 3 background investigation. Education (Required)Bachelor's degree in Information Science, Library/Archival Studies, Records Management, or a related field. Experience (Required)• Minimum 10 years of experience in records management, archival science, or digital information governance. • Experience applying federal records management requirements, including DoDI 5015.02 and NARA guidelines. • Experience leading retention, disposition, and permanent records workflows.• Experience preparing records for NARA transfer and producing compliance documentation. • Experience supporting enterprise-scale digital or web records programs. Technical Knowledge (Required)• Deep knowledge of federal and DoD records management regulations, compliance frameworks, and documentation standards. • Understanding of metadata schemas, classification standards, and digital preservation practices. • Experience with RM systems, content repositories, or archival tools. Technical Knowledge (Preferred)• Experience working in federal or DoD environments.• Familiarity with web content management systems, social media archival tools, or digital asset management systems. • Understanding of information governance intersecting with cybersecurity and data management. Skills• Strong organizational and documentation skills with high attention to detail. • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain compliance requirements to non-technical staff. • Ability to manage complex workflows and coordinate across multiple teams.• Analytical ability to identify compliance gaps and propose corrective actions. • Strong understanding of digital recordkeeping best practices and preservation standards.
