Senior Counsel, Intellectual Property & Competition - Remote U.S. (922-SLS)

Our client, a mission-driven global Internet company, has exclusively retained Solutus Legal Search to assist in hiring a highly motivated and skilledSenior Counsel, Intellectual Property & Competition. This attorney will manage a wide range of IP and competition matters, including oversight of IP strategy and licensing (with a particular emphasis on open-source software), handling a small patent portfolio, and managing IP/competition litigation and regulatory issues. You will join a small, multi-disciplinary team of highly skilled and experienced professionals whose scope spans Competition/Antitrust, IP, Regulation, and Litigation.The role also involves advising on the company’s participation in global standards bodies, supporting advocacy efforts before governments and regulators, and serving as a trusted legal advisor to leadership and technical teams. This position reports to the Director of Global Competition and Regulation and offers the opportunity to work in a high-impact, mission-driven environment with exposure to cutting-edge legal and policy challenges. Key Responsibilities• Lead and coordinate litigation in IP, competition, and regulatory areas, including oversight of amicus briefs.• Manage IP strategy, licensing, copyright matters, and a small patent portfolio, with emphasis on open-source matters. • Provide legal guidance on participation in international standards bodies. • Advise on competition law and regulatory matters in collaboration with public policy colleagues. • Represent the organization in engagements with regulators, governments, and industry stakeholders. • Serve as a trusted advisor to leadership, product, and technical teams. • Collaborate across the Legal & Policy team on issues spanning IP, competition, privacy, and regulation.Candidate Requirements• J.D. and active bar membership in good standing. • 8+ years of relevant legal experience, including in-house experience at a technology company. • Strong intellectual property background, with demonstrated expertise in software licensing and open source. • Experience managing litigation in the U.S. • Familiarity with competition/antitrust issues and interest in regulatory developments. • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-moving environment. • Excellent collaboration and communication skills, with ability to partner effectively across technical and policy teams.• Intellectual curiosity and passion for technology, open source, and global regulatory issues.
