[Remote] Sr. Optical Manufacturing Engineer

TE Connectivity's Aerospace Defense & Marine Division is seeking a highly motivatedSenior Manufacturing and Process Development Engineer specializing in Fiber Optics. The role involves delivering engineering design and development for next generation manufacturing technologies while ensuring robust and efficient designs aligned with manufacturing capabilities. Responsibilities• Execution of Manufacturing deliverables to the NPD Phase Gate process including:• New process and equipment compliance with TE safety and ergonomic policies• DFM/A input into the early stages of product design• PFMEA and implementation of high-risk mitigation plans• Manufacturing capacity analysis• Value stream mapping• Assembly tooling and equipment development• Process qualification via capability studies• Execution of sample builds including generation of first article inspection reports• Generation of process specifications• Develop and implement new manufacturing technologies and automation appropriately to support customer driven new product innovation.• Apply a lean manufacturing focus to drive world class cost on new product and fuel plant-level productivity initiatives on fiber optic manufacturing processes. • Support TE’s global operations footprint as a subject matter expert for fiber optic manufacturing processes. • Liaise with manufacturing facilities to support preliminary cost estimates on new product concepts. Skills• A Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Optical, or Manufacturing Engineering with 5 years of hands-on experience in a manufacturing environment, at least 2 of which is related to fiber optic product.• Experience with machine, equipment and process design, development, and deployment into a production environment. • Hands-on problem solver with the ability to work independently with minimal supervision. • Must be able to effectively operate in remote teams with broad geographic footprints. • Excellent time management skills and the ability to balance priorities while working under the pressure of demanding project schedules. • Strong written and oral communication skills across all levels of the organization.• Proficient with 3D CAD software as well as general Microsoft Office applications. • Optical manufacturing principles such as single and multi-fiber termination• Test methods of optical connectors• Active optical assembly. • Basic knowledge of industry standards surrounding environmental and mechanical performance of optical connectors. • Knowledge and experience implementing Lean Six Sigma principles preferred. • Green or Black Belt certification a plus.
