About the positionResponsibilities• Developing or assisting in the development of data collection tools (surveys, focus group guides, key informant interview guides). • Assisting in the collection of quantitative and qualitative data, such as fielding surveys in community settings, conducting focus groups or key informant interviews with community stakeholders. • Reviewing, cleaning, coding, and analyzing data using R, SAS and/or Excel. • Creating, manipulating, and managing datasets for program data.• Developing and/or supporting implementation of evaluation plans for BCDP's programs and policies. • Assisting in the development of analytic plans. • Drafting reports, data finding summaries, presentations, and data visualizations for internal and external audiences. • Contributing to the preparation of grant requests to support unit and bureau efforts, as opportunities arise. • Identifying and developing opportunities for collaboration with internal and external researchers and stakeholders. • Providing additional research, evaluation and analytic support as necessary for BCDP programs.Requirements• Expertise in managing, cleaning, analyzing, and reporting on quantitative data, including large datasets. • Experience with chronic disease research (e.g. food insecurity, healthy eating, cancer, diabetes, heart disease, and contributing factors). • 3 years' experience in public health research practice. • Experience in using common statistical software (SAS, SUDAAN, STATA, R) for the analysis of complex survey, administrative, and other data. • Familiarity with peer-reviewed literature on chronic disease prevention, health equity and strategies to eliminate racial/ethnic inequities in health outcomes.• Understanding of common statistical terminology and procedures (e.g., regression modeling, time series analysis). • Commitment to and connection with NYC communities that experience avoidable and unjust differences in health outcomes. • Excellent analytical skills and reasoning. • Strong written and oral communication skills. • Experience utilizing mixed methods, including qualitative data. • General appreciation for data quality. Nice-to-haves• Master's degree in public health, urban planning, public administration or related field.• Three years of full-time experience in program management in community or government. • Knowledge of chronic disease prevention, physical activity, and active design. • Excellent oral and written communication skills and interpersonal skills. • Ability to work collaboratively in a team setting across multiple disciplines and with diverse stakeholders. • Willingness to travel throughout NYC.
