Summary:DistroKid is looking for someone to join its legal department as Manager, Legal Ops and Compliance. This will be a high-impact role reporting to and working closely with the General Counsel to help the company operate at scale.This is a fully remote position with likelihood of optional travel to team and/or industry events. PrimaryResponsibilities:• Support, manage and own legal operations and compliance• Own legal technology tools and provide support for adjacent department technology as it relates to legal aspects or legal support• Serve as day to day responsible party for the continuous improvement of the contracts management system across the business• Serve as responsible party for providing in-depth regulatory knowledge to identify compliance risks, gaps and management• Work with various departments on centralizing key corporate policies• Take lead on company-wide communications regarding legal department policies and processes• Support content ops, marketing, finance and infringement teams on various legal issues• Facilitate sharing of information, training and best practices across different departments• Support the General Counsel on various legal matters and legal team projectsWhat is Expected of you and others at this level:• Excellent oral and written communication skills and attention to details• Ability to influence, build and manage relationships across diverse functions and groups• Ability to work independently on a wide variety of matters, multitask and prioritize competing demands across different departments in a fast-paced environment• Excellent team player and able to collaborate cross-functionally when necessary• Sound and practical business judgment• Ability to problem solve, work under pressure and meet deadlinesQualifications:• Minimum of three years of relevant experience in legal operations or related fields of paralegal support, contracts management, strategy and operations and/or general operations required• Minimum of three years of relevant experience in providing guidance on regulatory, audit and compliance matters required• Familiarity with core concepts of legal operations and a defined point of view on the responsibilities and opportunities for legal operations to work cross-functionally in a fast-paced environment• Prior experience advising on copyright, trademark, privacy and infringement matters preferred• Desire to take a data-driven approach to decision-making and legal operations whenever possible• Interest in wide-ranging topics that are critical for in-house legal departments, including corporate, employment law, privacy law, compliance and commercial contracts• Project management skills and ability to run complex, multi-stakeholder projects with minimal supervision and direction• Prior experience implementing contracts and privacy management solutions preferred• Prior experience at record label, music publisher or entertainment/content company preferred• JD preferred but not required• A passion for music, technology and related trends a plusAbout DistroKidDistroKid was founded in 2013 to provide musicians, managers, and record labels with online tools and services that are innovative, easy-to-use, and affordable.Nearly 2 million artists rely on DistroKid and include hobbyists, up-and-coming musicians, top YouTubers, and household names like 21 Savage, Ludacris, Arizona Zervas, Will Smith, Tom Waits, and more.
