Legal Document Automation Specialist/Microsoft Office 365
Seeking a highly skilled Legal Document Automation Specialist to serve as the primary technical architect for all automated document production. In this role, you will design, code, and maintain an advanced library of Microsoft Office templates, macros, and VBA tools that streamline the workflow for legal secretaries and support staff. Your work will directly support the efficient and accurate creation of complex legal documents—including complaints, statements of damages, special letters, discovery requests, and pleadings—while ensuring strict adherence to court formatting rules and firm branding standards.Core responsibilities include developing sophisticated Microsoft Word templates using advanced formatting, multi-level numbering, field codes, and content controls; programming and deploying custom macros and UserForms to automate routine tasks; customizing the Microsoft Office Ribbon using RibbonX/XML; and serving as the Tier-3 subject matter expert for resolving Word-related technical issues such as corrupt documents and broken formatting. You will collaborate closely with practice group leaders and support personnel to identify process bottlenecks and engineer technical solutions that improve efficiency across the firm, while also maintaining and updating the template library in response to evolving court rules, software changes, and internal standards.Must hold a Microsoft Office Specialist (MOS) Expert certification and demonstrate expert-level proficiency in Microsoft Word, advanced VBA programming ability, and working knowledge of RibbonX/XML. A background of at least 3–5 years in a law firm or corporate legal department is preferred, along with an understanding of legal terminology and court-mandated formatting requirements.
