We are seeking a Competitive & Strategic Intelligence Analyst to join the Charlotte, Charleston, Seattle, Pittsburgh or Houston office. The Competitive & Strategic Intelligence Analyst will assist with continuous development and execution of a scalable, global strategic and competitive intelligence research function that will support new business growth for practice and industry groups, improve service to clients, and aid in the achievement of the strategic goals of the firm.The Competitive & Strategic Intelligence Analyst will see projects through from concept to delivery, sometimes with limited or no oversight from a manager. This role is part of the Client Growth team and will report to the Director, Competitive & Strategic Intelligence.Candidates must be self-starters who possess the ability to work independently and as part of a team. Excellent communication skills and a commitment to providing the highest quality client service are strongly preferred. ESSENTIAL DUTIES• Assist the Director with continuous improvement of team systems, processes, and infrastructure by proactively contributing ideas, suggestions, and using research tools in new and innovative ways that support a global scalable Competitive & Strategic Intelligence function• Assist the Director execute the teams’ training and instruction program targeting the global Client Growth team, including producing training and presentation materials• Assist the Director in providing succinct, meaningful recommendations to decision-makers across the firm• Cultivate and grow intra-departmental relationships to ensure open lines of communication• Serve as liaison to the Library to foster research collaboration• Mentor junior members of the team• Handle new joiner onboarding• Assist the Director in the development of key client current awareness program• Assist the team’s industry taxonomy program• Conduct in-depth research and analysis of companies, industries, technologies, marketplaces, and competitors to uncover key, actionable information and insights• Prepare and deliver detailed competitive intelligence and research reports leveraging firmwide research tools and external data sources• Monitor various news/intelligence sources for business development and market visibility opportunities• Collect, analyze, and interpret large amounts of information and distill it down into actionable intelligence that informs business decisions• Research, analyze, and identify new industry trends to spot new business opportunities• Provide research support for client pitches and other internal meetings and initiatives• Produce written and oral reports• Produce manually-curated media briefings for internal and external clients• Prepare company dossiers including background information and market intelligence• Assist with special projects at the behest of the firm’s senior leadershipADDITIONAL DUTIESEXPERIENCE SKILLS REQUIRED• Bachelor's degree in business, marketing or related field• Three to five years of relevant experience in research, business and/or competitive intelligence• Experience working in a law firm or professional services setting preferred• Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with individuals at all levels and across all departments• Strong written and oral communication and presentation skills• Strong interpersonal skills with demonstrated service orientation• Ability to work in virtual and in-person, fast-paced and often high-pressure environments• Strong project management, process improvement, and organization skills• Strong time management skills to ensure deadlines are met• Maintain confidentiality at all times• Edit and proofread• Be a self-starter; have the ability to manage workflow and triage projects based on value• Proficient using research and productivity tools including, but not limited to: Microsoft Office, Excel, PowerPoint, Westlaw, Lexis, S&P Capital IQ, Monitor Suite, BvD Orbis, Mergermarket, Manzama, Intelligize, Market Insights, Pitchbook, Hoovers, and BloombergLaw.ADDITIONAL ABILITIES REQUIRED• Understand the difference between information and intelligence• Assess and reprioritize projects quickly when situations change• Data analytics experience preferred• Excellent problem-solving skills• Strong intellectual curiosity• Strong written and oral communication skills and must understand the constantly changing demands of the large law firm industry• Quickly assimilate into existing teams and able to work with all levels of firm management and work well as part of a team.• Communicate and interact effectively with lawyers and allied professionals across the firm.
