About the position Responsibilities • Support landscape-scale conservation efforts across the southern Lower Peninsula of Michigan. • Conduct wildlife and habitat assessments, including spatial analyses. • Develop and evaluate Wildlife and State Game Area Master Plans. • Provide technical assistance on rare species and natural communities. • Collaborate with division staff and external partners to implement conservation strategies. • Support adaptive management and the implementation of the Wildlife Division's strategic plan. Requirements • Possession of a bachelor's degree in natural resource science or biological science with at least 8 semester (12 term) credits in wildlife biology and 16 semester (24 term) credits in related fields. • Wildlife Biologist 9: No specific type or amount of experience required. • Wildlife Biologist 10: One year of professional experience equivalent to a Wildlife Biologist 9. • Wildlife Biologist P11: Two years of professional experience equivalent to a Wildlife Biologist, including one year equivalent to a Wildlife Biologist 10. • Wildlife Biologist 12: Three years of professional experience equivalent to a Wildlife Biologist, including one year equivalent to a Wildlife Biologist P11. Nice-to-haves • Experience in developing species or habitat plans. • Experience leading teams. • Experience partnering with government and non-governmental agencies. • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal. • Experience in data management, analysis, and visualization. • Experience in spatial analysis.
