Role DescriptionThe Women’s Health and Genetics division of Labcorp is seeking a Genetic Counselor Assistant (GCA) to join their team! This is an exciting opportunity to provide support to our lab-based Genetic Counseling team in various areas including: client services, send outs, and reporting. This role requires a high level of attention to detail and excellent customer service skills, with a focus on managing results and communicating effectively with clients.This position will be supporting Labcorp’s Westborough, MA, genetics laboratory remotely. The schedule for the position will be: Monday – Friday, 8:30am-5pm EST plus rotating Saturdays (every third Saturday). Note:This is a fully remote position. Candidates can be located anywhere in the US; however, they must be able to work eastern time zone. • Work with the lab Genetic Counselor team to support clients that order testing performed at Labcorp’s Westborough, MA laboratory• Review a defined set of molecular test requisitions/incoming samples for clarity of physician orders• Provide support to the molecular lab by monitoring worklists and adding and canceling tests.• Generate paperwork for sendout tests and monitoring tracking lists• Respond to telephone and email inquiries from Labcorp clients, health care providers, Labcorp’s laboratories and branches to coordinate all applicable genetic testing• Contact clients to obtain pertinent demographic and clinical information and communicate with clients to ensure that the appropriate testing is ordered• Research, troubleshoot, and resolve problems related to testing by contacting clients or other Labcorp facilities• Learn multiple laboratory-based computer applicationsRequirements• Bachelor’s degree in a biological life science• Knowledge of Microsoft Office suite• Strong multi-tasking ability with excellent attention to detail• Strong verbal and written communication skills and excellent ability to listen and respond effectively• Strong flexibility and the ability to manage and adapt to changing priorities quickly• Strong project management skills• Ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships with others and work cooperatively and effectively to set goals, resolve problems, and make recommendationsPreferred Requirements• 2 years’ relevant work experience• Previous experience working as a Genetic Counselor Assistant• Previous experience working in a molecular diagnostics laboratory or clinical genetics setting• Previous experience in the healthcare industry such as a hospital or physician’s office• Familiarity with genetics concepts• Experience with Laboratory Information Systems (LIS)Benefits• Comprehensive benefits including: Medical, Dental, Vision, Life, STD/LTD, 401(k), Paid Time Off (PTO) or Flexible Time Off (FTO), Tuition Reimbursement and Employee Stock Purchase Plan.• Casual, PRN & Part Time employees regularly scheduled to work less than 20 hours are eligible to participate in the 401(k) Plan only.
