Game Developer Needed (Godot) for 2D Top-Down Action RPG – Fantasy Project - Contract to Hire

I am looking for a skilled 2D game developer experienced with Godot to build the core systems and first regions of a top-down action RPG called Hadadunia: Clay & Fire. This is the first game in a connected fantasy universe (manga + game series). The project is indie but long-term. The game features:• Top-down 2D action combat• Player movement (smooth, responsive)• Light + heavy attacks, dodging, parrying• Enemy AI (ranged + melee)• Mini-boss + boss fights• NPC interaction• Save system (at Oasis checkpoints)• Inventory + items• Region transitions (village → forests → marshes → mountains)I will provide:• Full Game Design Document• Player Handbook• Pixel art (via dedicated artist)• SFX + music (provided by me)• Weekly communication + clear tasksYourResponsibilities:• Implement movement/combat systems• Enemy AI + boss behaviour• Map loading + region transitions• Save/load system• Basic UI (HP, stamina, inventory)• Integrate art + sound• Help build a stable prototype and early alphaTechnical Requirements:• Strong experience with Godot (preferred 4.0+)• Experience making 2D action or RPG systems• Understanding of hitboxes, state machines, and AI behaviour• Clean, documented code• Ability to work independently• Good communication (weekly updates)Project Scope & Terms:• Start Date: January 8th, 2026• Initial goal: Core systems + 1–2 regions + 1 boss• Timeline: 8–12 weeks for prototype phase• Potential long-term contract for full developmentBudget:£500–£900 for the prototype phase (depending on experience and speed).Future work will be negotiated separately as the project expands.
