This role will provide training and technical assistance on expulsion prevention as well as provide consultation in early childhood education (ECE) to build the capacity of those caring for young children in Department of Economic Security (DES) contracted childcare settings.You will work to address the social/behavioral/mental health needs of children in childcare with a focus on providing early intervention and prevention services in relation to expulsion prevention to improve emotional well-being, coping skills, general adaptive functioning, and social competence of children and teachers. Job duties:• Uses a framework of promotion, prevention and early intervention to promote social emotional development and resilience and prevention of behavioral difficulties for those at risk• Acts as a resource regarding early childhood development with an emphasis on emotional and behavioral health and the importance of the relationship between the participant and child• Provides in-person and virtual training on overall social and emotional wellness with specific topics related to child development, trauma informed practices, effective classroom management strategies, behavior, relationships, self-care, and other related topics• Conducts training in person and virtual during the week, both during the day and evenings as well as on weekends as needed• Develop new training and update existing as needed• Supports early care and education providers through technical assistance• Develops and implements a plan to deliver Technical Assistance that includes a written agreement between SWHD, the recipient of Technical Assistance, and the Director or Program Administrator• Provides technical assistance in 3-hour increments to Child Care Centers, Home Based Providers, holding a registration agreement with ADESo Provides observations and recommendations regarding the social-emotional environment to assist in identifying children in need of support with behavioral, emotional, or developmental concerns• Develops intervention strategies utilizing a team approach to assist staff in developing positive behavior support strategies to promote optimal social-emotional development• Collaborates with childcare providers, directors, managers, and other team members to build their knowledge and skills to support the needs of children and families• Adheres to all paperwork and program requirements• Knowledge of community resources and referrals in the community• Uses independent judgment and discretion in setting daily priorities to complete tasks• Demonstrates sensitivity towards and provides services that are linguistic, cultural, social, economic, individual and role differences among persons and families served• Provides services that are family-centered and relationship-based• Applies adult learning principles and practices of multi-method instruction• Uses a training approach that is skills based and interactive for participants• Ensures attendees complete evaluation forms after completion of each training and technical assistance session• Develops and maintains collaborative relationships in the community• Completes and submits required monthly program reports and billing forms• Attends meetings as required by Supervisor• As requested, engages in long-range planning for program with supervisor, and others as designated by supervisor.• Adheres to the Southwest Human Development Mission, Vision, Core Values and policies. • Provides services that are family-centered and relationship-based. • Other duties as assigned. What it takes:• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Early Childhood Education, Education, Family Studies, Child Development, Counseling, or a related field• Experience working with young children in classroom settings• Clearance from the Background Check for Employment through the Central Registry as required by Arizona Department of Economic Services-Child Care Administration (ADES-CCA)• Current State of Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card• Current First Aid and CPR cards• Specialty Instructor Status in the Arizona Early Childhood Workforce Registry• Must have an Arizona driver’s license and an insured, reliable vehicle• Bilingual preferred-English and SpanishSWHD takes the health and safety of our employees and the communities we serve very seriously.We strongly believe vaccination is a critical safety measure to protect each of us and the communities we serve.
