NoOffer DescriptionWe are seeking to incorporate a graduate in Biochemistry, Biotechnology, or related fields, with a Master’s degree in translational biomedical research, to support the project "UNICAS.Implementation of a Pediatric Network for Personalized Medicine in Rare Pediatric Diseases. A Pilot Project."The ultimate goal of pediatric precision medicine is to stratify children affected by diseases in order to improve diagnosis and medical treatments. Translational researchers are generating increasingly large amounts of heterogeneous clinical data and scientific information to create classification strategies that allow interventions to be tailored to the underlying mechanisms of disease in patient subgroups. Most pediatric genetic diseases—such as neurodevelopmental disorders, inherited metabolic diseases, neuromuscular disorders, epilepsies, and other ultra-rare monogenic conditions—are major causes of childhood mortality and disability in Spain and worldwide. Main Objectives of the Project• Establishment of a Pediatric Research Network in Rare Diseases for Precision Medicine in Spain. • Application of Electronic Health Record standards through the introduction of a "minimum clinical dataset" across four disease groups, to obtain a set of common clinical data standards intended to be included in RER, CSUR, and CIBER.• Implementation of shared tools among pediatric units and deployment of "Use Cases" for IMPaCT-Data and IMPaCT-Genomics. • Application of automated tools to analyze and share genomic information from children with rare diseases and interaction with IMPaCT-Genomics. The project will deploy a federated data platform, following the guidelines and demonstrators developed by IMPaCT-Data. This pilot project aims to launch the Network and establish its foundational structure by leveraging existing phenotypic and genomic data from 300 patients, as well as conducting structured genomic and phenotypic studies in another 200 patients across four disease groups. The hired candidate will join the Biochemistry Laboratory in connection with the Directorate of Digital Strategy and Data, and will actively participate in Work Package 4 (WP4) of the project, as well as in tasks related to the validation and standardization of clinical laboratory data. This contract is co-financed by ISCIII, Personalized Precision Medicine Research Projects Program, funded through Next GenerationEU under the Recovery, Transformation, and Resilience Plan (PRTR), project reference PMP22/00008.• Ability to work independently and as part of a team. • Proactivity and adaptability in a constantly changing environment. Specific RequirementsEducation:• Bachelor’s degree in Biochemistry, Biotechnology, or related fields. • Master’s degree in Translational Biomedical Research or equivalent. Experience:• Demonstrable experience in a biochemical-clinical laboratory, preferably dedicated to the diagnosis of rare diseases. • Experience in the analysis of biochemical biomarkers that validate or complement genetic variants of uncertain significance.• Regular use of laboratory software and clinical results management systems. Highly valued:• Knowledge of LOINC, OMOP, SNOMED standards and other clinical interoperability models. • Familiarity with cloud computing environments (AWS, Azure) and AI, machine learning, or NLP tools applied to biomedical data analysis.
