POSITION DESCRIPTION:This position manages a team of Student Advisors who are responsible for building collaborative relationships with students.Managers are responsible for holding their teams accountable to assisting students with university policies and processes, degree progress, and student services. This is a REMOTE position with a schedule of Monday - Friday, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM CST. KEY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:• Manage a team of Student Advisors• Provide guidance and support to the team by empowering them to properly advise and assist students with University policies, procedures, degree programs, and services• Lead and motivate team to meet or exceed University, departmental, and student expectations• Monitor, evaluate, and guide Advisors performance to achieve University’s mission.• Provide individual assistance in areas such as goal setting, time management, motivation, overcoming objections, etc. • Monitor team’s progress and provide guidance/follow up, including tracking of Departmental metrics. • Assist department in achieving and increasing levels of student satisfaction, student retention rates and improving overall student graduation rates. • Help coordinate departmental efforts to assist students who have dropped in re-entering and continuing school. • Help insure follow up actions are based on student retention results, withdrawal data, and other sources to get at the root causes for student withdrawals prior to completion and drive improvements in student satisfaction and retention.• Utilize relationship development and communication skills to build and manage strong inter-departmental relationships. • Meet and exceed pre-established departmental registration objectives. • Collaborate in recruitment, hiring and training activities. • Demonstrate expert knowledge of a variety of software systems and applications. • Relate to University administrators, staff and instructors on behalf of students. • Appropriately represent Grantham’s fundamental educational and philosophical principals.• Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned. • Provide weekly reporting to Vice Chancellor of Student Experience or Director of Student Advising. • Provide support to Student Advisors by resolving escalated issues. • Conduct regularly scheduled performance evaluation reviews for team. • Other duties as assignedEDUCATION/ WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS AND DESIRED SKILLS:• A college degree or comparable work experience required• Supervisory experience required• Remote supervisory experience preferred• Experience working in a student advisor capacity helpful• Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community.• Able to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing. • Able interpret, adapt, and apply guidelines and procedures. • Knowledge of programs/services available to university student. • Knowledge of student recruitment and retention issues. • Strong student-centered focus; commitment to student satisfaction and success. • Able to investigate and analyze information and to draw conclusions. • Able to work effectively with diverse populations. • Knowledge of customer service standards and procedures.• Display success in a performance-driven sales environment which utilizes metrics and measurements. • Desire to work in a progressive but competitive environment. • Results-oriented and self-motivated person who needs little supervision in following up on assigned tasks and projects. • Understand consultative selling, uncovering buying decisions and understand customer needs. • Able to overcome barriers. • Able to multi-task and learn and leverage a variety of software applications. • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.• Language Skills Able to read, analyze, and interpret journals and documents. Able to present information using professional and grammatically correct language is required• Mathematical Skill: Able to apply concepts such as basic math skills, fractions, and percentages is preferred• Reasoning Ability: Able to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.Able to present facts to management for response.
