SUMMARY OF DUTIES:Work on a fast-paced team facilitating and leading Continuous Improvement and Lean projects, initiatives, and teams. Work collaboratively with business and functional leaders to motivate and drive change throughout the organization using Lean and continuous improvement teams and projects.Be a motivator, change agent, and a continuous improvement technique and tool expert who can successfully lead cross-functional continuous improvement projects to completion and deliver measurable bolthires savings, bolthires avoidance, and revenue increases in line with stated goals.Assess project concepts and analyze risks and costs to make recommendations. Plan, prioritize, direct, and support business line or functional project schedules, resource plans, and budgets. Provide consultation on the use of Lean and Six Sigma techniques to improve process performance, service, and product quality.Support the creation of an Amtrak-wide Continuous Improvement strategy, culture, and community of practice. Help select or develop top-tier and cascading metrics for the Finance team that align to strategy and enable goal-setting and prioritization. Work with Finance leaders to identify opportunities and launch improvement teams to meet strategic goals. Build dashboards and other indicators of progress. Develop and deploy Continuous Improvement and Lean Six Sigma methodologies and tools across the organization.Reports directly to theSenior Director of Continuous Improvement within the Finance team. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:• Apply strategy, methods, metrics, and tools associated with Continuous Improvement; inclusive of Lean tools and Six Sigma as well as other appropriate tools such as Theory of Constraints to a wide-ranging variety of challenges. • Manage small, medium, and large project scopes, schedules, and budgets with medium to high complexity. • Organize project documentation to orchestrate project delivery.• Diagnose root cause problems, reach solid conclusions, develop implementable solutions, articulate ideas crisply and concisely, and build consensus across the organization. • Prioritize multiple objectives and priorities with time-sensitive deadlines. • Facilitate and coach groups of stakeholders to align on project objectives, scope boundaries, resources, solution requirements, and solutions. • Productively manage conflict and overcome organizational resistance to change• Facilitate change by motivating colleagues to practice continuous improvement and waste elimination• Communicate and present data and findings to audiences at both staff and executive levels.• Build harmonious relationships across a diverse workforce to deliver results. Must command respect of fellow colleagues and possess absolute integrity. • Interact and build relationships with stakeholders at all levels of the organization using a collaborative and collegial style. • Drive collaborative action to deliver desired results. • Engage with Finance leadership to implement a strategy deployment method (e.g. Hoshin Kanri, Balanced Scorecard) that clarifies and links multi-year goals and objectives with annual planning and monthly execution reporting.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:• Full understanding of a variety of Continuous Improvement, Six Sigma, Lean, Kaizen, and Agile philosophies and the ability to explain and utilize core concepts of statistical methods with proficiency. • Demonstrated experience facilitating and leading continuous improvement teams from concept to solution delivery• Demonstrated experience as a project manager. • Significant experience redesigning business processes to improve time, bolthires, or quality process measures and to create and improve standard work.• Organizational strategy deployment and measurement experience• Ability to independently set goals, prioritize work, and execute initiatives on time and on budget• Ability to create and deliver reports on project progress and results to senior staff and executives• Must be proficient in Excel, Word, PowerPoint, SharePoint, and business process modeling software (Visio, Bizagi, BonitaSoft, Orbus iServer, etc.)• Knowledge of the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC)• Experience writing solution requirements and/or user stories• Strong communication skills both orally and written.• Knowledge of organizational change management concepts• Team player. • Bachelor's degree• Project ManagementProfessional (PMP), Certified Business AnalysisProfessional (CBAP), Lean Six Sigma Green Belt, Lean Leader, or equivalent certification• Strong analytical skills and business intuition• Software development lifecycle experiencePREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:• Experience creating a continuous improvement strategy for an organization, business unit, or equivalent. • Experience developing and implementing key performance indicators• Experience training and coaching Lean, Agile, project management, or business analysis principles and techniques.• Knowledge of railroad operations• Organizational Change Management or Agile certifications• Business process modeling experience (e.g. BPMN)• Management consulting experience• Master's degree in applicable field. • Transportation industry experienceCOMMUNICATIONS AND INTERPERSONAL SKILLS:Must have excellent oral and written communication skills. The salary/hourly range is $130,000-$168,480 Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, internal equity, etc.Depending on an employee's assigned worksite or location, Amtrak may consider a geo-pay differential to be applied to the employee's base salary. Amtrak may offer additional incentive and pay programs to recognize and reward our employees, including a short-term incentive bonus based upon factors such as individual and company performance that is commensurate with the level of the position and/or long-term incentive plan compensation.
