Job Title: Senior SQL Server Database Administrator (2 Positions) Location: Remote Clearance Level: Clearable at Public Trust Experience Level: Senior (8+ years) Reports To: Database Engineering SME Overview: The Senior SQL Server Database Administrator will provide advanced technical expertise in managing, maintaining, and optimizing Microsoft SQL Server environments. The position includes supporting clustered SQL Server instances, implementing high availability solutions, and ensuring optimal database performance across the enterprise. The DBA will also support MariaDB, PostgreSQL, and MySQL environments as needed. Key Responsibilities: • Administer, configure, and maintain SQL Server databases across multiple environments (Dev, Test, Prod). • Implement and manage SQL Server clusters, Always On Availability Groups, replication, and failover strategies. • Conduct performance tuning, query optimization, and index management to ensure peak system efficiency. • Perform backup, restore, and disaster recovery operations using native and enterprise tools. • Manage security roles, encryption, auditing, and compliance with data protection policies. • Design and develop database schemas, stored procedures, and triggers to support application functionality. • Collaborate with developers and infrastructure teams to support database integration and automation. • Monitor system health using SQL Server Management Studio (SSMS) and third-party tools. • Support interoperability and data exchange with Oracle, MariaDB, PostgreSQL, and MS Access databases. • Document database architectures, procedures, and operational standards. Required Qualifications: • Bachelor s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related discipline (or equivalent experience). • Minimum 8 years of hands-on experience in SQL Server database administration. • Strong knowledge of SQL Server 2016/2019/2022 in clustered and standalone environments. • Proven experience with performance tuning, query optimization, and troubleshooting. • Proficiency with SQL Server security, backups, and disaster recovery processes. • Familiarity with additional RDBMS technologies (MariaDB, PostgreSQL, MySQL). • Excellent communication, documentation, and analytical skills. Preferred Qualifications: • Experience with Azure SQL or AWS RDS environments. • Familiarity with automation and CI/CD pipelines (PowerShell, SSIS, or DevOps tools). • Microsoft Certified: Azure Database Administrator Associate or SQL Server certification preferred.
