Reverse Engineering Product & Create SolidWorks 3D Model/2D Drawing

We are a U.S.-based fountain pen company seeking an experienced mechanical designer or engineer to assist us with reverse engineering several pen models. This is a hands-on project requiring physical dimensional analysis of actual pen components that will be shipped to you. Key Responsibilities: Receive physical pen parts shipped from us (within the U.S.) and carefully perform full dimensional analysis, including: External and internal measurements Identification of non-standard metric threads/taps Ensure all measuring tools used are non-marring or have plastic attachments to avoid scratching delicate painted surfaces Carefully verify thread pitch and profiles using metal thread checkers Produce accurate 3D models and 2D drawings of each component in: SolidWorks format (.SLDPRT/.SLDASM/.SLDDRW) STP (.STEP) format Use our company-provided drawing template and follow specified tolerances Show dimensions in inches (except for threads, which remain in metric units) Requirements: Based in the United States (required for shipping logistics) Proficiency in SolidWorks (3+ years preferred) in 2D Drawing and 3D modeling Experience with precision measurement and reverse engineering physical products Access to appropriate non-scratching measurement tools Familiarity with thread standards and identification Ability to safely and securely handle fragile, high-value components Additional Details: We will cover all shipping costs (both to and from you) We will provide reference drawings with formatting and tolerancing standards If you have a machine shop with a lathe, drill press, and milling machine, that is a plus as we may want to build prototypes using a material called Ebonite.This may lead to repeat projects depending on the quality and reliability of work If you’re meticulous, detail-oriented, and experienced in reverse engineering physical parts with delicate surfaces, we’d love to hear from you.
