(Remote) Senior Vice President of Hotel Accounting

Schulte Companies is seeking aSenior Vice President of Hotel Accounting to join our growing team! TheSenior Vice President of Hotel Accounting is a key contributor to strategies, tactics, long-range forecasting, and overall efforts to continually improve the operations and return to owners. The individual will also work closely with the corporate staff, COO, CAO and other disciplines to ensure appropriate accountability and transparency, with vigilant attention to management of risk, internal financial and operational controls, budget, as well as protection and growth of assets.Our Company: Schulte Companies is a leading third-party management company with deep, multi-generational experience in all facets of the hospitality industry. JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES• Lead, direct and manage Accounting VP's, Accounts Payable, Tax, and Internal Audit team• Establish relationships with all external ownership groups• Oversee month-end close processes including balancing, timely upload of all month end reports, and reconciliation and accuracy of all ledgers and reports submitted• Full understanding of Cash Flow statements and be able to speak with the Accountants and ownership• Assists with establishing a training program and assists with the training for Hotel Accounting, AP, and Tax• Ensure accurate and timely monthly journal entries, account reconciliations and research on financial questions as appropriate• Ensure timeliness of invoice processing and reporting, including Franchise Fees• Ensure timeliness of Sales and Occupancy tax filings• Direct monthly forecasting and annual budget process• Review policies and procedures• Ensure compliance with SOX compliance requirements• Assist when on/off-boarding hotels• Advise General Managers in controlling expenses and maintaining department checkbooks• Ensure that property meets internal and external audit standards as outlined in the Internal Audit guidelines and other Corporate Office communications• Providing direction and training to hotel operational team in areas related to financial reports, internal controls, standard operating procedures, expense controls, and payroll• Assist with external audits• Conduct weekly meetings with various team members to stay on top of issues and processes• Review AR reports, with the Operations team, and calculate Bad Debt Reserve calculations• Step in to perform any duties, if the department is short staffed or covering for PTO• Recruit and hire for the various departments• Assist when system issues arise• Communicate with business partners; Concur, ProfitSword, ERP support team• Perform other duties as assigned to meet business objectivesEDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE• Hotel experience required• Minimum 5 years financial management leadership experience• Management Company accounting experience preferred• Multi-property controller experience required• BA or BS degree in accounting or finance required• Supervision/Management of a team requiredKNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES• Knowledge and deep understanding of all aspects of hotel operations.• Promotes an atmosphere of teamwork with the ability to lead by example. • Builds morale and spirit while instilling an industry leading guest service attitude in all associates. • Strong customer service orientation and skills with exceptional attention to detail. • "Hands-on" leadership approach to management and team development. • Must be able to prioritize functions in order to meet all deadlines. • Executes all performance management, oversee recruitment & retention programs to include bonus program & annual reviews.• Well-versed in strategic planning and operational execution• Excellent communicator and dynamic presenter. • Ability to lead, motivate and direct with clear communication. • Strong knowledge of US GAAP, internal controls and financial reporting required• Strong knowledge of USALI• Ability to communicate statistical and financial data at the executive and entry level• Ability to thoroughly understand and analyze financial statements and cash flows• Ability to produce results with minimal supervision in a fast paced environment• Strong organizational, problem solving, analytical, and general ledger reconciliation skills• Strong attention to detail and ability to perform multiple tasks simultaneously with accuracy• Strong working knowledge of bolthires Office and computerized general ledger systems• Knowledge of PMS and POS systems strongly preferredWhat's in it for you?When you join Schulte Companies you'll be part of a team committed to an inclusive, employee-focused workplace that is invested in your development.
