About theRole:As a Direct Reading Instruction Tutor at Braintrust Tutors, you’ll work directly with middle school students virtually to strengthen their reading comprehension, fluency, and critical thinking skills. You'll provide engaging, consistent lessons using Braintrust Tutors curriculum and materials, helping students build foundational reading skills and confidence.Opportunity Details:Start Date: As soon as Monday, December 15th, 2025 | Applications are being considered on a rolling basis. PETS Status (Personnel Eligibility Tracking System NYC): Must be PETS cleared or willing to obtain PETS clearance via fingerprinting process (Braintrust Tutors will facilitate and pay). Must have multiple slot availability during daytime hours. What You Will Do:• Provide in-person, small-group or 1:1 math tutoring to middle school school students during the school day or after school• Implement Braintrust Tutors intervention programs as designed, using all materials with fidelity• Monitor student progress and adjust instruction accordingly• Maintain accurate records of student attendance and academic performance• Collaborate with the Braintrust Tutors Operations team and school staff to support student growth• Foster a supportive and engaging classroom environment that promotes focus and confidence• Follow school-site procedures and policies while maintaining a professional and dependable presence• Use provided assessments and progress monitoring tools for understanding to guide instruction• Manage time effectively during sessions to complete all planned instructional activitiesWhat You Will Have:• Bachelor’s degree in Education or a related field• Active or expired teaching license• Experience with foundational and advanced reading instruction that includes morphology-based word study, vocabulary development, reading comprehension, and writing skills covering grammar, syntax, and multi-paragraph composition using a structured scope and sequence.• Experience working with middle school-aged students preferred• Strong classroom management and communication skills• Comfort navigating a school environment and collaborating with teachers and staff• Punctuality, professionalism, and reliability for all scheduled sessions• Passion for literacy and closing opportunity gapsNext Steps:• Complete a one-way interview (sent after application)• Opportunity to meet with a Recruiter to ask any questions that you have about working with us• Onboarding & placement!Braintrust Tutors is an equal employment opportunity employer.
