Job Title:Professional Engineer (PE) – Civil (State of California Licensed)Engagement Type: FreelanceLocation:Remote (Must hold an active California PE License)Type: Project-Based / ContractualJob Summary:We are seeking a California-licensedProfessional Engineer (PE) – Civil to support our ongoing and upcoming development and construction projects. The primary responsibilities include reviewing, verifying, and sealing civil engineering plans, along with preparing project specification books in full compliance with California state codes, local jurisdiction standards, and applicable safety regulations.Key Responsibilities:• Review civil engineering project plans for technical accuracy, constructability, and compliance with California Building Code (CBC), Caltrans standards, and other state/local regulatory requirements. • Apply an official California PE seal to approved plans, drawings, and engineering documentation. • Prepare and deliver a comprehensive civil engineering specification book aligned with approved project designs. • Provide guidance on California-specific engineering standards, including seismic design requirements and permitting processes.• Coordinate with internal teams, architects, planners, and external project stakeholders to finalize documentation. • Ensure adherence to California’s environmental and safety regulations such as CEQA, OSHPD, and local municipal codes (if applicable). Requirements:• ActiveProfessional Engineer (PE) License in Civil Engineering – State of California (required). • Minimum 5 years of experience in civil engineering plan development, review, and stamping. • Strong knowledge of:• California Building Code (CBC)• California Fire Code (CFC)• Caltrans design criteria & standards• Seismic design requirements (CBC & ASCE 7)• Local permitting requirements (city & county)• Proficiency with civil engineering design and documentation tools (AutoCAD Civil 3D, Bluebeam, etc.).• Ability to meet project deadlines and collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams. • Prior experience preparing specification books and working on commercial, residential, or infrastructure projects preferred.
