Position OverviewWe are seeking an experienced Paralegal with 5–7+ years of substantive experience in special education (IEP) matters, nonprofit compliance, or trust administration.The ideal candidate is proactive, organized, highly detail-oriented, and able to manage complex responsibilities in a boutique law firm environment. Because our clients include many Spanish-speaking families and organizations, this role requires a bilingual (English/Spanish) professional who can communicate with clarity, professionalism, and cultural awareness. Key ResponsibilitiesEducation Law Support:Draft due-process complaints, IEP summaries, parent communications, and hearing documents. Coordinate IEP meetings, evaluations, and communications with school districts and agencies.Calendar and maintain compliance timelines (evaluation deadlines, hearing schedules, notices, etc.). Nonprofit Law Support:Prepare, organize, and maintain bylaws, board minutes, policy documents, governance packets, and annual compliance calendars. Assist with scheduling board meetings, preparing agendas, assembling board packets, drafting board resolutions, and maintaining accurate records of board actions. Monitor deadlines and prepare filings related to state and federal nonprofit compliance (e.g., Form filings, annual reports, ethical disclosures, training requirements).Assist with document preparation for employment policies, confidentiality agreements, workplace compliance requirements, handbooks, and related nonprofit HR materials. Support new nonprofit formations by organizing incorporation documents, maintaining registries, preparing required state filings, and assisting with updates during leadership transitions. Draft professional correspondence to nonprofit leaders, board members, vendors, and regulatory agencies under attorney supervision. Maintain organized digital files, governance archives, compliance logs, and confidential records in accordance with best practices.Trust Administration Support:Prepare trust correspondence, inventory schedules, notices to beneficiaries, and asset summaries. Assist with trust distributions, accounting schedules, and communication with beneficiaries. Draft letters, summaries, trustee instructions, and support trust-related filings. General ParalegalResponsibilities:Draft pleadings, discovery, memos, and correspondence for attorney review. Conduct legal and factual research; summarize findings clearly. Manage attorney calendar, deadlines, hearings, and case workflows.Communicate professionally with clients, agencies, and opposing counsel. Organize and maintain digital files within the case-management systems. Support billing, file closing, internal processes, and light administrative/marketing tasks.
