NETWORK ENGINEER (ROUTING AND SWITCHING)Location: Dept of Veterans AffairsSchedule (FT/PT): Full TimeTravel Required: 25%Duration: Long-termShift: DayPotential for Telework: 75%Clearance: Public TrustRate: 1099 and/or C2C OpportunityRouting and Switching network engineers will engineer, design, implement and troubleshoot Routers and Switches across the county in VA owned and leased spaces. Projects will include enhancements to security, transition to IPv6, automation, design, and configuration planning of new equipment.They will lead implementations with multiple VA teams to accomplish mission goals. This LCAT has been identified as Key Personnel. Key Personnel must meet the following requirements:1.Expertise with Cisco routing and switching specializing in routing and switching. 2.Expertise with designing, implementing, and troubleshooting enterprise level large, multi-site, multi-vendor unified communications. 3.Expertise in deployment automation, vulnerability remediations, updates and configuration of routing and switching systems.4.Expertise with oversight of a team running a trouble ticket system. 5.Demonstrated success using modern DevOps methods and tools including automated testing tools and monitoring tools. Demonstrated ability to drive frequent release cycles (daily/weekly)PLACE OF PERFORMANCEA majority of the efforts under this contract shall be performed at Contractor facilities and work may be performed at remote locations with prior concurrence from the Contracting Officer's Representative (COR). The Contractor shall identify the Contractor's place of performance in their Contractor Project Management Plan submission.It is expected that this work will be conducted during core business hours, which are defined as 8:00 am to 5:00 pm local time, as well as non-core hours (nights and weekends) to include Federal Holidays. For specific meeting types, including user requirements sessions and other key meetings which are best accomplished at Government facilities, the Government will schedule meeting rooms as necessary. TRAVELThe Government anticipates travel under this effort to perform the tasks associated with the effort, as well as to attend program-related meetings or conferences throughout the PoP.Include all estimated travel costs in your firm-fixed price line items. These costs will not be directly reimbursed by the Government. The total estimated number of trips in support of the program related meetings for this effort is once per month.
