Through in-depth coverage of IT case studies, emerging technologies and the implications of digital technology on the policies and management of public sector organizations, Government Technology chronicles the dynamics of governing in the information age.The Government Technology Multimedia Producer is responsible for writing and producing reported stories for Govtech.com that feature data visualizations, video and other multimedia elements. Stories and multimedia projects should be grounded in the Government Technology voice and produced for an audience of state and local IT professionals. The expected output of the multimedia producer is high quality, in-depth content that is job critical to the audience. Further, this content should drive web traffic, overall reach and audience engagement on social media platforms.What you'll do• Develop and implement a multimedia strategy for GT Editorial. • Pitch and produce weekly multimedia content, including data visualizations, video and more in collaboration with GT editors and staff writers. This content includes select live event coverage and on-location video storytelling. • Develop and write data-driven articles. • Mentor other staff in expanding their own multimedia capabilities to enhance their reporting. • Evaluate performance of all multimedia content on an ongoing basis in order to recommend and implement best practices.Document processes with an eye toward future growth. • Explore and recommend new multimedia formats and tools to expand existing capabilities. • Responsible for maximizing audience engagement and expanding the overall audience for Government Technology with multimedia content. Skills & Qualifications• A demonstrated strong news sense. Strong written and verbal communication skills, including on camera. • Experience with video production and data visualization tools. • The ability to report, write and produce clear, concise and accurate editorial content.• Ability to juggle short- and long-term deadlines. • Knowledge of and experience with social media in the context of news outlets. • Experience covering state and/or local government IT is a plus. • Available to start work around 9 a.m. local time every day. Available for some travel. • Must be in a work environment with reliable Internet access. Apply tot his job
