As a Special Education Teacher, you will: • Deliver direct and indirect instructional support to students with disabilities, promoting positive and inclusive classroom experiences. • Employ specialized strategies to foster development in sensory, perceptual, motor, language, and cognitive skills. • Teach academic content using diverse and effective methods such as phonics, multisensory learning, and repetition to accommodate individual learning needs. • Implement Individualized Education Program (IEP) goals, teaching socially appropriate behaviors through positive behavior support techniques. • Modify general education curriculum based on each student’s needs, utilizing evidence-based instructional approaches and assistive technologies. • Plan and conduct engaging lessons that balance direct instruction, guided practice, and opportunities for independent work. • Collaborate closely with general education staff, related service professionals, administrators, and families, ensuring optimal support and regulatory compliance. Desired background includes: • Bachelor’s degree in Education and a valid Michigan Teaching Certificate (or bachelor’s degree with enrollment in a MDE-approved certification program). • Preferred: Experience teaching in a comparable school district. • Preferred Endorsements: Learning Disabilities (SM) and/or Cognitive Impairment (SA).
