Description of the Position Beyond Good & Evil 2 is an open world space opera action adventure game. It is also the direct prequel to the 2003 classic! Thanks to the technological advancement brought by our proprietary Voyager engine, Beyond Good & Evil 2 aims to offer an organic and seamless experience of space exploration and piracy on the scale of a solar system, where players can discover exotic locations, colorful characters, and many mysteries to uncover solo or with friends. If you are looking for a unique adventure, join our team to help create System 3! Why we need you: We are looking for Senior Game Designers to strengthen the design team on Beyond Good & Evil 2. Your role will consist of designing, driving, and refining major game systems in a demanding, collaborative, and ambitious environment. Depending on your experience and interests, you may work on different key gameplay areas: 3C ships, enemy AI, puzzles and enigmas, systemic activities. The position involves a strong capacity for iteration, prototyping, interdisciplinary communication, and taking responsibility for topics that structure the player experience. What you will do: Missions: • Define, design, and refine gameplay mechanics following a rapid iterative process. • Prototype regularly and test with a controller to validate ideas and adjustments. • Work closely with technical, artistic, AI, animation, combat, and direction teams. • Present, document, and communicate design intentions clearly. • Identify gameplay issues and propose concrete and testable solutions. • Bring a clear vision and contribute to the overall coherence of the player experience. Valuable areas of expertise (non-exclusive) • Depending on your profile, you may be particularly involved in one or more of the following areas: • AI NPC combat: design, prototyping, and implementation of enemy behaviors. • 3C and vehicles/ships: design, prototyping, and implementation of pilotable ships, with particular attention to game feel. • Puzzles and enigmas: design of understanding challenges, manipulation, experimentation, observation, and deduction. • Systemic activities: design of emergent gameplay, systemic loops, and interactions with the open world. Qualifications What we are looking for: Key skills for this position Expected technical skills • Proven experience as a Senior Game Designer on at least one major game (AA or AAA). • Mastery of a major market engine or proprietary engine. • Ability to prototype and iterate quickly. • Good understanding of 3D open world development. • Strong video game culture and ability to identify relevant references. Assets appreciated • Experience in character AI. • Experience in 3C vehicles. • Experience in puzzle and enigma design. • Experience in systemic systems and gameplay design.
