About the Role Our client, a leading innovator in robotics and autonomous systems, is seeking a highly motivated Senior Computer Vision Engineer to join their advanced R&D team in Richmond, Virginia . This role is instrumental in developing and implementing cutting-edge computer vision algorithms that enable intelligent perception and navigation for autonomous platforms. You will work with complex sensor data, including cameras and LiDAR, to create robust perception systems. We are looking for an engineer with a deep understanding of image processing, object detection, tracking, and 3D scene understanding, coupled with strong software engineering skills. This hybrid role offers a blend of in-office collaboration and remote flexibility, based in the vibrant city of Richmond, Virginia . Key Responsibilities Design, develop, and optimize computer vision algorithms for real-time applications in autonomous systems. Implement and integrate perception modules including object detection, tracking, segmentation, and depth estimation. Work with sensor fusion techniques to combine data from multiple sources (e.g., cameras, LiDAR, IMU). Develop and maintain the software infrastructure for computer vision pipelines, ensuring robustness and scalability. Collaborate closely with robotics engineers, AI scientists, and hardware teams to achieve system integration. Evaluate and benchmark the performance of computer vision algorithms and systems. Stay current with the latest research and advancements in computer vision and machine learning. Contribute to system design discussions and provide technical leadership within the team. Develop solutions for challenging visual perception problems in diverse environments. Write clean, efficient, and well-documented code in C++ and Python. Requirements Master's or Ph.D. in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Robotics, or a related field, with a specialization in Computer Vision. 5+ years of experience in computer vision development, preferably in the context of robotics or autonomous systems. Proficiency in C++ and Python programming languages. Strong experience with computer vision libraries such as OpenCV, PCL, and deep learning frameworks (TensorFlow, PyTorch). Solid understanding of image processing, geometric vision, and 3D reconstruction techniques. Experience with sensor fusion algorithms and state estimation. Familiarity with robotics middleware like ROS is a plus. Excellent problem-solving abilities and a track record of delivering high-quality solutions. Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a team environment. Experience with large-scale data processing and algorithm optimization.
