Insight Global is seeking an experienced VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF) Deployment Engineer to support a healthcare client in deploying VMware Cloud Foundation across datacenter environments. The role involves implementing foundational VCF infrastructure, workload domains, NSX networking, and lifecycle management capabilities within an existing enterprise VMware environment.
Responsibilities
- Deploy VMware Cloud Foundation management domains in both primary and secondary datacenters
- Deploy VMware Cloud Builder appliances and execute VCF bring-up activities
- Install and configure:
- VMware SDDC Manager
- VMware vCenter Server
- VMware NSX Manager
- Create and configure workload domains according to the approved architecture
- Import qualifying vSphere clusters into SDDC Manager
- Convert existing vSphere clusters into VCF workload domains
- Apply VCF lifecycle management policies and standards
- Assess cluster readiness, health, and resource availability prior to implementation
- Validate storage, networking, and virtualization dependencies required for VCF deployment
- Ensure consistency of:
- Distributed virtual switches (VDS)
- MTU configuration
- VLAN design
- Storage presentation
- Datastore architecture
- Verify adherence to VMware best practices and workload segregation requirements
- Deploy and configure VMware NSX components
- Configure management, storage, vMotion, and overlay networking
- Assist with security policy alignment and network segmentation strategies
- Support workload domain connectivity and platform integration activities
- Produce deployment documentation and configuration records
- Participate in operational handoff activities with client infrastructure teams
- Provide implementation recommendations and remediation guidance where applicable
Skills
- 5+ years of VMware infrastructure engineering experience
- 2+ years deploying or administering VMware Cloud Foundation
- Experience deploying: VMware Cloud Builder, VMware SDDC Manager, VMware NSX-T, VMware vCenter Server, vSphere 8.x
- Strong understanding of enterprise datacenter networking concepts including: VLANs, MTU configuration, Distributed virtual switching
- Experience with cluster migrations, workload domain creation, and lifecycle management
- Ability to troubleshoot complex infrastructure deployment issues independently
- Excellent communication and documentation skills
- VMware Certified Professional (VCP)
- VMware Cloud Foundation Specialist certification
- VMware Advanced Professional (VCAP)
- Experience implementing VCF in healthcare environments
- Experience with storage platforms such as Pure Storage, Dell EMC, NetApp, or similar enterprise SAN solutions
- Familiarity with disaster recovery architectures and multi-datacenter deployments
- Enterprise-scale virtualization modernization efforts
