Ahtna Diversified Holdings, LLC is seeking a Vice President of Energy, Utilities, & Environmental Consulting to provide strategic leadership and operational management for their consulting business line. The VP will be responsible for developing growth strategies, maintaining client relationships, and ensuring successful project delivery while focusing on financial performance and compliance.
Responsibilities
- Develop and execute the strategic vision for the Energy, Utilities & Environmental Consulting business line
- Establish and lead a diversified growth strategy focused on environmental consulting, permitting, regulatory compliance, utility services, energy infrastructure, and environmental advisory services
- Expand the Company's presence within energy, renewable energy, utility, water, wastewater, infrastructure, and environmental consulting markets
- Identify and evaluate emerging markets, industry trends, technologies, and service offerings that strengthen the Company's competitive position
- Establish and maintain executive-level relationships with key clients, utility operators, regulators, industry organizations, and strategic partners
- Represent the Company at industry conferences, association meetings, client engagements, and business development events
- Evaluate strategic partnerships, joint ventures, acquisitions, and teaming opportunities that support long-term business growth
- Maintain full profit and loss responsibility for the Energy, Utilities & Environmental Consulting business line
- Develop and implement annual operating plans, budgets, forecasts, and business performance objectives
- Monitor revenue generation, profitability, backlog, utilization, forecasting accuracy, and overall business performance
- Establish performance metrics and reporting mechanisms that support business planning and operational decision-making
- Oversee resource allocation, workforce planning, and operational execution activities
- Conduct business reviews and implement corrective actions necessary to achieve financial and operational objectives
- Lead the development and delivery of environmental consulting, permitting, environmental planning, and regulatory compliance services
- Oversee environmental review, permitting, and regulatory support activities at the federal, state, and local levels
- Support services involving environmental assessments, environmental impact analyses, permitting strategies, stakeholder engagement, and regulatory compliance
- Direct the development of permitting and environmental review processes that improve efficiency, quality, and client outcomes
- Monitor regulatory developments and industry trends affecting client operations, infrastructure projects, and environmental compliance requirements
- Serve as an executive representative in regulatory discussions, agency meetings, public forums, and stakeholder engagements
- Lead market expansion efforts supporting renewable energy, energy infrastructure, transmission, grid modernization, utility operations, and related infrastructure sectors
- Develop and maintain relationships with electric utilities, natural gas utilities, pipeline operators, water utilities, wastewater agencies, municipalities, developers, and infrastructure owners
- Identify opportunities supporting environmental compliance, permitting, planning, utility infrastructure development, and regulatory advisory services
- Develop strategies that position the Company as a trusted partner supporting utility, infrastructure, and energy-sector clients
- Support the development of service offerings addressing environmental compliance, permitting, utility siting, due diligence, regulatory support, water resources, wastewater systems, and infrastructure planning
- Identify opportunities to expand environmental consulting and advisory services within federal, commercial, municipal, utility, and infrastructure markets
- Lead capture planning, pursuit strategies, and business development initiatives supporting organizational growth objectives
- Support development of proposals, pricing strategies, contract pursuits, and client presentations
- Establish and maintain relationships with federal agencies, commercial organizations, utility operators, and municipal customers
- Collaborate with business development personnel, technical staff, and operational leadership to secure new business opportunities
- Promote cross-selling opportunities and integrated service offerings across Ahtna subsidiaries and operating companies
- Recruit, develop, mentor, and retain high-performing managerial, technical, business development, and project delivery staff
- Establish performance expectations, accountability measures, and professional development opportunities
- Build organizational capabilities supporting consulting, technical services, permitting, regulatory compliance, business development, and project delivery functions
- Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, innovation, customer service, and continuous improvement
- Support workforce planning, succession planning, employee development, and organizational growth initiatives
- Partner with environmental operations leadership to identify opportunities where consulting, permitting, planning, and regulatory services support or enhance project delivery
- Identify opportunities where consulting, permitting, environmental planning, and advisory services create downstream project opportunities for Ahtna operating companies and strategic partners
- Collaborate with subsidiary leadership and shared services departments to achieve organizational objectives
- Work closely with Human Resources, Accounting, Contracts, Legal, Procurement, Business Development, Marketing, and Information Technology teams
- Promote integrated service delivery across the Company's family of businesses
- Support strategic initiatives that strengthen operational effectiveness and customer satisfaction
- Ensure compliance with applicable environmental, regulatory, contractual, and operational requirements
- Establish and maintain quality assurance and quality control processes supporting technical excellence and client satisfaction
- Monitor and mitigate operational, contractual, financial, and regulatory risks
- Promote a culture focused on safety, quality, accountability, ethics, and customer service
- Ensure consulting deliverables, permitting documents, regulatory submissions, and client communications meet Company quality standards
- Support executive leadership with reporting, strategic planning, organizational initiatives, and business performance reviews
- Perform other duties as assigned by leadership
Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Planning, Engineering, Geology, Business Administration, or a related field
- Education may be substituted for experience on a 2:1 basis where applicable
- Fifteen (15) years of progressively responsible leadership experience in environmental consulting, utilities, energy, infrastructure, regulatory compliance, or related industries
- Five (5) years of executive-level leadership experience with responsibility for business operations, financial performance, or business line management
- Demonstrated experience managing budgets, forecasting, financial performance, and operational results
- Experience developing business opportunities and maintaining client relationships
- Experience leading multidisciplinary teams across multiple geographic locations
- Working knowledge of environmental permitting, regulatory compliance, environmental planning, utility operations, or related consulting services
- Master's degree in Business Administration, Environmental Management, Engineering, Public Administration, Law, or a related field
- Professional certifications such as P.E., P.G., AICP, PMP, CHMM, or similar industry-recognized credentials
- Experience supporting federal agencies, utilities, municipalities, energy developers, or infrastructure organizations
- Experience leading consulting, engineering, environmental, or professional service organizations
- Experience supporting renewable energy, energy infrastructure, water, wastewater, or utility-related projects
- Experience and knowledge of Alaska Native cultures
