Note: The job is a remote job and is open to candidates in USA. Apolis is a company seeking a UI Lead for their Design System and Storybook initiatives. The role involves leading the creation and governance of an enterprise Design System, ensuring consistency across digital touchpoints, and managing the setup of reusable UI components aligned with AEM architecture.
Responsibilities
- Lead the definition, creation, and governance of the enterprise Design System using Figma, StoryBook ensuring consistency across all AEM websites and digital touchpoints
- Own the end-to-end Storybook setup and management, translating Figma design components into reusable, developer-ready UI components aligned with AEM architecture
- Drive the design-to-development pipeline by ensuring seamless mapping of Figma components to AEM components, templates, and content structures
- Define and standardize UI component libraries, design tokens, interaction patterns, and accessibility guidelines to support scalable multi-brand and multi-site AEM implementations
- Collaborate closely with AEM architects and developers to ensure Storybook components align with AEM component models and front-end frameworks
- Design and document reusable UI patterns, screen variations, interaction states, and design annotations for efficient development handoff
- Lead UX strategy including user journeys, wireframes, interaction flows, and usability standards for migration from legacy CMS to AEM platforms
- Ensure all designs adhere to accessibility (WCAG), usability, and responsive design standards across devices and breakpoints
- Establish governance frameworks for Design System adoption, versioning, and consistency across global brands and regions
- Enable scalable and reusable design solutions to reduce duplication and improve efficiency across websites and channels
- Conduct UX audits, usability testing, and design validation to ensure high-quality user experiences post-migration
- Define and enforce best practices for design-to-code workflows, including Storybook documentation, naming conventions, and component reusability
- Support migration initiatives by standardizing design patterns from legacy platforms (e.g., Sitecore) into a unified AEM-compatible design system
- Collaborate with frontend teams to validate UI implementation against Figma and Storybook standards
- Provide mentorship to UX designers and UI developers, ensuring adoption of design system and Storybook best practices
- Evaluate new tools, plugins, and frameworks to continuously enhance design system maturity and adoption
- Create and maintain design documentation, component usage guidelines, and Storybook references for cross-team enablement
Skills
- 8–12+ years of experience in UI/UX design with at least 3–5 years leading Design Systems and component libraries
- Strong expertise in Figma (Design Systems, Auto-layouts, Variants, Tokens, Prototyping)
- Hands-on experience building and managing Storybook for enterprise UI component libraries
- Proven experience working on CMS-driven platforms, preferably AEM-based website implementations or migrations
- Strong understanding of responsive design, accessibility (WCAG), and usability principles
- Experience in component-based design aligned with frontend frameworks (React/Angular-based ecosystems preferred)
- Ability to translate business requirements into scalable UX/UI solutions and component frameworks
- Experience collaborating with AEM developers to enable seamless design-to-development workflows
- Strong stakeholder communication and ability to drive design decisions across cross-functional teams
- Experience in large-scale website migration programs (e.g., Sitecore to AEM)
- Familiarity with Adobe Experience Cloud ecosystem and AEM component-driven architecture
- Experience in pharma/regulated industry UX design (compliance, accessibility, approval workflows)
- Exposure to design automation tools and Figma-to-code pipelines
- Agile/Scrum experience in cross-functional product teams
