SoTalent is seeking an experienced Senior Supplier Development Engineer to lead supplier development and manufacturing improvement initiatives across casting and forging operations. This role focuses on driving operational excellence, improving manufacturing processes, implementing advanced technologies, and collaborating with external suppliers to enhance quality, productivity, and cost efficiency.
Responsibilities
- Lead supplier development initiatives across casting and forging manufacturing operations
- Develop and implement manufacturing strategies that improve productivity, quality, and operational performance
- Drive continuous improvement projects to optimise manufacturing processes and reduce costs
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align supplier capabilities with business objectives
- Identify and implement advanced manufacturing technologies, including automation, robotics, and additive manufacturing where appropriate
- Analyse manufacturing performance metrics and implement corrective actions to improve supplier performance
- Support suppliers in adopting best practices for process optimisation and manufacturing excellence
- Manage technical projects and allocate resources to achieve operational goals
- Ensure compliance with applicable quality standards, safety requirements, and manufacturing regulations
- Mentor and support engineers while promoting a culture of continuous improvement and technical excellence
Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or another STEM-related discipline
- Extensive experience in manufacturing engineering, supplier development, or process optimisation
- Minimum of 3 years' experience working within casting manufacturing
- Strong expertise in investment casting and associated manufacturing processes
- Experience working with: Investment casting, Sand casting, Single crystal casting, Directionally solidified casting, Ceramic core manufacturing, Permanent mould casting, Inconel and other high-performance alloys
- Strong understanding of advanced manufacturing technologies, including automation, robotics, and additive manufacturing
- Proven ability to lead operational improvement and process optimisation initiatives
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, leadership, and stakeholder management skills
- Ability to work effectively across cross-functional teams and external supplier networks
- Master's or PhD in Engineering or a related discipline
- 10+ years of manufacturing experience within casting operations
- Experience with aerospace, industrial gas turbine, or automotive supply chains
- Expertise across a range of casting materials including aluminium, magnesium, stainless steel, titanium, iron, and specialty alloys
- Strong project management experience
- Knowledge of industry best practices and emerging manufacturing technologies
- Experience mentoring and developing engineering teams
