Note: The job is a remote job and is open to candidates in USA. Sutton Bank is a financial institution seeking a Snowflake Data Engineer to develop and maintain their Snowflake database structure. The role involves designing database schemas, optimizing query performance, and ensuring secure access to customer and financial information.
Responsibilities
- Responsible for technical delivery review, resolution of architecture issues within Snowflake
- Ability to create, troubleshoot, enhance complex code in Snowflake
- Designs and develops banking solutions for data, and reporting needs
- Experience in building data pipelines (ETL) with Snowflake cloud data platform using AWS storage layers (S3)
- Collaborates on the design of Snowflake architecture and configure databases to meet the institution's functional requirements
- Identify, document, and communicate technical risks, issues and alternative technical solutions discovered during projects
- Works with the Manager of Data Analytics and Operations (DAO) to ensure that the Sutton Bank database aligns with the overall needs of data stakeholders
- Assists in test environment data requirements setup and maintenance, testing and validation
- Assists with designing new data pipelines as part of onboarding additional payment processors, programs, and third-party data sources
- Works with Manager DAO to investigate and resolve application and data integrity issues
- Builds high-quality processes that adhere to the software development lifecycle
- Utilizes source control for migration of code changes through SDLC
- Creates database tables, views, and stored procedures
- Creates and updates database objects such as tables, views, stored procedures, udf's and security credentials to store and access business data
- Establishes backup, recovery and disaster prevention procedures to ensure data continuity
- Develops, implements, and maintains database security
- Monitors and optimizes the performance of databases
- Installs and configures snowflake cloud computing technologies
- Creates documentation to ensure databases adhere to industry standards
- Produces monthly and quarterly reports from database query results
- Updates and maintains the Sutton Bank Data Lineage tool
Skills
- Bachelor's degree in a computer related discipline
- Five years of experience in the card payment industry in a developer role
- Knowledge of Snowflake and AWS, and multiple database technologies such as mySQL and SQL Server
- Experience with developing complex ETL in Data Processing environments within relational and non-relational database platforms
- Or equivalent combination of education and training
- Must have Snowflake experience with Snowpipe, Tasks, Streams, Time Travel, Optimizers, Role based access control (RBAC) and Streamlit applications
- Have worked with GitHub or equivalent version control software
- Experience with work management platforms (Asana, DevOps, Jira)
- The ability to communicate effectively and clearly, both in verbal and written communications
- Strong knowledge of the Payments Industry and/or card processing
- A demonstrated understanding of the financial services industry
- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions
- Ability to solve problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists
- Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form
- Must have ability to analyze and solve complex problems, develop automated systems
