The Senior/Staff Backend Engineer will design and evolve backend architecture for AI-driven healthcare products, build scalable distributed systems, and lead technical initiatives to improve performance and reliability across the platform.
Responsibilities
- Design and evolve backend architecture powering AI-driven healthcare products
- Build scalable distributed systems supporting Ambient AI workflows
- Develop high-performance backend services using Python, Go, FastAPI, Flask, and related technologies
- Lead technical planning and execution for critical platform initiatives
- Design systems capable of operating reliably at large scale
- Build APIs and backend infrastructure supporting clinical workflows
- Drive architectural decisions across multiple products and services
- Improve reliability, scalability, and performance across the platform
- Establish engineering best practices for testing, deployment, and maintainability
- Mentor engineers and elevate technical standards across the team
- Collaborate closely with product, design, clinical, and engineering stakeholders
- Work directly with customers to solve complex technical challenges
- Participate in system design discussions and architecture reviews
- Build cloud-native systems using AWS infrastructure
- Contribute to AI-powered healthcare products used by thousands of clinicians daily
- Drive technical initiatives from ideation through production deployment
- Improve operational excellence and engineering velocity
- Help scale one of the fastest-growing healthcare AI platforms in the industry
Skills
- 5–15 years of software engineering experience
- Strong backend engineering experience
- Experience building distributed systems in production
- Experience working at high-growth startups or technology scale-ups
- Strong Python engineering experience
- Experience designing and scaling backend services
- Strong system design and architecture fundamentals
- Experience building cloud-native applications
- AWS infrastructure experience
- Experience with Docker and Kubernetes
- Experience operating systems at meaningful scale
- Strong understanding of performance, reliability, and scalability
- Experience leading complex technical initiatives
- Experience mentoring engineers
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
- Experience operating in fast-paced and ambiguous environments
- Ability to drive projects end-to-end
- Customer-facing or stakeholder-facing experience preferred
- Experience in healthcare, fintech, or other regulated industries is highly preferred
