Responsibilities
- Monitor scientific journals, conferences, preprints, institutional press releases, and other trusted sources for breaking research and trending news within your area(s) of expertise
- Write 2–4 original Trending Science News articles each week (300–500 words per article)
- Produce accurate, engaging, and reader-friendly summaries of newly published scientific research
- Apply SEO best practices, including compelling headlines, keywords, and metadata
- Share published articles across relevant Labroots social media channels in a timely manner
- Meet editorial deadlines while maintaining high standards for scientific accuracy and quality
Skills
- Bachelor's degree in a scientific discipline or communications/journalism
- At least two years of experience in scientific writing, science journalism, research, or a related field
- Strong ability to interpret and communicate peer-reviewed scientific research
- Excellent written communication skills with the ability to explain complex scientific concepts clearly and accurately
- Familiarity with SEO principles and digital publishing best practices
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to scientific accuracy
- Self-motivated, organized, and able to consistently meet deadlines
