The External Reporting Accountant will be responsible for analyzing and interpreting business performance through financial reporting, providing support to clients, and collaborating with the finance team to enhance reporting processes.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with the Finance organization to provide Accounting and Finance guidance to customers
- Accurately develop, maintain and discuss various reports with the reporting team
- Provide analysis and explain results to clients
- Build relationships with assigned clients and provide requested support
- Ensure understanding of the systems/processes for the business areas supported
- Collaborate with others in a team setting, either directly or indirectly
- Research new tools and existing tools’ new functionality and evaluate opportunities to apply these capabilities to improve current business processes
- Participate in the selection of tools that are appropriate for the reporting area
- Evaluate and resolve issues and errors found within our tools, maintaining the credibility and integrity of the data
- Utilize various tools, including automation tools, to configure and develop the future process
- Collaborate with others in a team setting, either directly or indirectly
- Preparation and distribution of quarterly, and annual financial statements with required disclosures in compliance with prescribed regulatory accounting practices including US Statutory, US GAAP and IFRS
- Preparation includes the use of automation and managing technology changes as needed
- Work with external auditors in the completion of the financial statement audits and report preparation and provide explanations as needed
- Recommend appropriate accounting for new / unique business activity
- Assist in the completion of statutory and GAAP consolidation processes, including consolidated cash flow statement
- Identify the need for research of accounting issues for compliance with applicable accounting principles and reporting requirements
- Assess new accounting pronouncements, their application to financial statements and new reporting requirements in connection with the Technical Accounting team
- Assist in the improvement and automation of current reporting processes
- Provide support and maintain automated reporting processes
- Position will also be relied on to assist with special projects as the need arises
Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Financial discipline
- Proficient with Microsoft products, such as Excel, Power Query, Access
- Strong knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and statutory accounting principles (SAP)
- Effective written and verbal communications
- Proven ability to manage multiple priorities
- Proven ability to identify process improvements
- Proven ability to work effectively with team members
- Previous experience (1-5 years) in finance or accounting role preferred. (i.e. Internship)
- Familiar with Financial Reporting tools. Workday, Workday Reporting tools (Office Connect) experience preferred
