About the Role: Substitute Teacher
We're seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Substitute Teacher to join our community of educators in Port Monmouth, NJ. As a Substitute Teacher with Scoot Education, you'll have the flexibility to choose your assignments and work on your own schedule. Key Responsibilities:
- Provide high-quality instruction and support to students in the absence of their regular teacher
- Develop and implement engaging lesson plans, ensuring continuity of learning
- Manage classroom environments to promote a positive and inclusive atmosphere
- Build strong relationships with students, teachers, and school staff to foster a collaborative learning environment
- Participate in 1:1 check-ins with your designated Scoot consultant to discuss school feedback and develop your teaching skills
- Engage in ongoing training and professional development to enhance your teaching practices
Essential Qualifications:
- Associate or Bachelor's degree, or 60+ college credits
- Three professional references, including one from a previous direct supervisor
- NJ Substitute Credential
- Background check and TB risk assessment (Scoot Education will cover the cost)
- Full COVID-19 vaccination
- A passion for education and putting students first
- Empathetic nature, growth mindset, and drive to excel in your role
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous experience as a Substitute Teacher or in a related educational role
- Specialized training or certifications in areas such as Special Education, English as a Second Language (ESL), or STEM education
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively with diverse student populations and school communities
Skills and Competencies:
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to adapt to new situations and challenges
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Proficiency in classroom management and conflict resolution
- Commitment to ongoing learning and professional growth
