Job Overview
We're seeking an experienced Data Engineer to join our Data Ventures team, where you'll have the opportunity to work with massive datasets, design information pipelines, and contribute to the development of reusable technologies. As a Data Engineer at arenaflex, you will be responsible for adding to a coordination layer of complex data transformations, refining raw data from sources into designated, meaningful data assets for use in a represented manner. You will collaborate with Data Scientists, Investigators, other engineers, and business partners to solve complex and exciting challenges, enabling us to develop capabilities that evolve the retail business model while having a positive impact on our customers' lives.
Key Responsibilities
- Data Transformation and Integration: Concentrates data from identified databases, creates data pipelines, and transforms data into a structure relevant to the problem by selecting appropriate methodologies.
- Data Source Identification: Supports the understanding of the need order of requirements and service-level agreements, identifies the most suitable source for data that is good for purpose, and performs initial data quality checks on extracted data.
- Data Modeling: Investigates complex data elements, systems, data streams, conditions, and relationships to contribute to conceptual, physical, and logical data models, fostering the Logical Data Model and Physical Data Models, including data warehouse and data store designs.
- Code Development and Testing: Writes code to develop the necessary solution and application features by determining the appropriate programming language and utilizing business, technical, and data requirements, makes experiments to review and validate the proposed solution design, and tests the code using the appropriate testing approach.
- Applied Business Acumen: Provides recommendations to business partners to address complex business issues, creates business cases for projects with an expected return on investment or cost savings, and translates business requirements into tasks, activities, and tasks, aligning with the overall business process.
- Data Governance: Outlines, aligns, and reports data governance operations and recommendations, implements data governance practices in collaboration with business partners and peers, interprets organizational and regulatory policies on data, and educates others on data governance processes, practices, policies, and rules.
Essential Qualifications
To be successful in this role, you should have:
- A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field, with at least 2 years of experience in programming or a related field.
- Experience with Hadoop, Spark, Cloud, Python/PySpark, and Java, as well as streaming technologies like Kafka.
- Knowledge of data modeling and data migration protocols, with experience in building highly scalable Big Data solutions and ETL ecosystems.
- Familiarity with cloud computing platforms, such as GCP, and experience with data warehousing, BI, and integration tools like Automic and Windstream.
Preferred Qualifications
While not required, the following qualifications are preferred:
- Experience with DataBricks, NoSQL databases like Cosmos DB, and RDBMS like MySQL and Postgres.
- Hands-on experience with messaging platforms like Kafka and experience building highly scalable Large Data solutions and ETL ecosystems.
- A graduate degree in Computer Science or a related field, with 2 years of experience in programming or a related field.
