About the Role: Data Entry Clerk
We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented individual to join our team as a Data Entry Clerk. As a Data Entry Clerk, you will play a crucial role in supporting the pharmacy team by accurately and efficiently entering data into our systems. This is a fantastic opportunity for individuals looking to start their career in healthcare or data entry, with no prior experience required.
Key Responsibilities
Patient Experience
- Engage with patients by greeting them and offering assistance with products and services, resolving patient issues promptly, and responding to inquiries to ensure a positive patient experience.
- Model and share customer service best practices with colleagues to deliver a distinctive and cheerful experience, including interpersonal skills that demonstrate care and Walgreens service values.
- Connect with patients by anticipating their needs and proactively offering services, supporting efforts to enhance patient experience by increasing awareness of healthcare services offered through Walgreens.
- Participate in and facilitate events that reflect the unique communities we serve, as requested by the Store Manager, Healthcare Manager, Region Director, or Pharmacy Administrator.
Tasks
- Provide patient counseling and answer questions regarding medication use, side effects, interactions, contraindications, patient data security, generics, more affordable medications, over-the-counter products, and refer to medical providers as necessary.
- Perform pharmacist tasks, including compounding, medication therapy reviews, checks, and medication management.
- Review, interpret, and accurately dispense prescribed medications when required by responsibility.
- Ensure the pharmacy operates in compliance with regulations, company policies, and standards, supporting the pharmacy administrator in establishing procedures that promote efficient workflow.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of information technology related to pharmacy systems, including workflow, prescription fulfillment, billing, clinical documentation, training, inventory management, and point-of-sale registers.
- Ensure accurate processing of insurance claims to resolve patient issues and prevent payment rejections, following up with insurance companies and medical providers as necessary.
- Perform clinical and health services, such as vaccinations, diagnostic testing, disease state management, and other healthcare services.
- Support the pharmacy manager in analyzing performance data, including pharmacy financials, customer service, and execution of policies for pharmacy asset protection and inventory management.
- Develop and maintain good relationships with the local medical community, including physicians, nurses, and other healthcare providers, participating in community outreach activities to promote the pharmacy business.
People and Performance Management
- Assist the Pharmacy Administrator with staff recruitment and training, developing the Pharmacy Supervisor's skills through coaching, providing constructive feedback, monitoring customer service, and facilitating colleague development.
- Promote collaboration and motivate colleagues by setting expectations, monitoring and recognizing progress, and fostering a shared vision.
Training and Self-Development
- Maintain current knowledge and required licensure/credentialing/certification as established by government and state regulations to offer clinical services.
- Stay up-to-date with knowledge and skills related to pharmacy and healthcare by reading pharmacy-related journals, company publications, and communications.
- Acquire necessary certifications, education credits, and training, including learning modules, as required by the Organization.
- Seek professional development by monitoring one's performance, requesting constructive feedback, and utilizing the pharmacy supervisor and store manager as mentors.
Essential Capabilities
- BS in Pharmacy or Pharmacist Degree from an accredited educational institution.
- Current pharmacist licensure in the states within the region.
- Experience performing prescription dispensing activities that demonstrate a strong understanding of relevant state and federal controlled substance laws.
- Certified Immunizer or able to become an immunizer within 90 days of hire.
Preferred Capabilities
- At least 2 years of experience as a pharmacist in a retail setting, including prescription filling and checks, records and legal compliance, pharmacy operations, pharmacy software and technology systems, and insurance.
