The Impact Investing Portfolio Manager has significant responsibilities on the Impact Investing team. The Portfolio Manager will work closely with Impact Investing and Finance Department staff, other foundation employees, and the investee/borrower organizations to manage existing investments and support the ongoing learning, evaluation, and asset management of these transactions.This is primarily an asset management position; there may be an opportunity to support some origination work depending on the team's interests, ability, and needs. Success in this role includes a dedication to rigorous financial review, strong compliance management skills, regular assessment of the risk in the portfolio, the creation of quarterly reports, and a high degree of accuracy throughout all of those tasks. The Portfolio Manager will be a steward of the portfolio, regularly assessing its health, synthesizing and reporting this information to the Foundation, and acting as a trusted resource for program partners and investee organizations throughout the life of their financial agreements.This role also requires a dedication to patiently working with organizations and partners. This role can be based at any one of our California offices which includes; Los Angeles, Oakland, Fresno, San Diego, or Sacramento. Hybrid work schedule of up to two days in the office. COVID 19 - Please be aware thatThe California Endowment requires all employees to be fully vaccinated as a condition of employmentPosition Duties andResponsibilities:• Manage the Impact Investing portfolio, ensuring a high degree of accuracy for all information provided.• Confirm receipt and review of required borrower/investee reporting; analyze financial statements and other information to ensure compliance to investment terms, distill learnings, and to monitor the health of investee organizations. • Lead the investment review and risk rating processes for all investments and make investment level reserve recommendations, as applicable. Conduct the careful monitoring and intensive analysis sometimes required for high-risk investments. • Work collaboratively with other functional areas of the Foundation to support investment activities, including capital calls, new account openings, tracking of new investment activity, and supporting audit needs.Act as the team lead on ensuring investment actions are properly documented and recorded in the Foundation's internal systems. • Produce quarterly Board reporting, including portfolio reports, disbursement, and careful tracking of guarantees. • Foster positive relationships with portfolio investees/borrowers and internal partners that ensure a strong portfolio of investments and engender trust and collaboration across the Foundation and with investees and other external partners. Minimum Education, Qualifications, andExperience:This position works with multiple stakeholders, including other foundation staff, borrowers and investees, investors, consultants, and legal counsel.It is important this person has the right blend of hard and soft skills, analytical and people skills, and has a passion for TCE's mission. The ideal candidate will have community development, finance, investment, or banking-related asset-management background. Prior experience with social investing or private foundations is a plus but not required.
