Head of Data Engineering – Senior Manager

Job Description:• Lead, manage, and grow the Data Engineering team• Responsible for hiring, onboarding, performance management, and the professional development of each team member• Define and own the technical vision, strategy, and architecture for Peerspace's entire data platform• Act as the senior-most technical contributor and subject matter expert for the team• Partner directly with the CTO and other department heads to ensure the data platform roadmap aligns with company-wide objectives• Champion data quality, reliability, and best practices across the companyRequirements:• 8-12+ years of experience in data engineering and/or software engineering, with a proven track record of building and scaling data-intensive systems• At least 2+ years of formal people management experience, leading and mentoring a data engineering team• Authoritative expertise in designing, building, and operating modern, cloud-native data platforms (GCP/BigQuery highly preferred)• Mastery of data modeling, transformation, and orchestration frameworks (e.g., DBT)• Deep architectural knowledge of event streaming (e.g., Segment), data integration patterns, data governance, and security best practices• Proven ability to set a multi-quarter technical roadmap, make critical buy-vs-build decisions, and select technologies that align with long-term business goals• A passion for managing and developing engineers, with demonstrated success in hiring, coaching, and creating career paths for your team members• Experience fostering a collaborative, inclusive, and high-performance team culture• Strong skills in performance management, goal setting (OKRs), and providing constructive feedback• The ability to translate ambiguous business problems into a clear data strategy and a concrete technical execution plan• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts to both engineering teams and executive stakeholders• Experience collaborating effectively with leaders across Product, Analytics, Marketing, and Finance to understand their needs and deliver impactful data solutionsBenefits:• 100% employee coverage of medical, dental and vision insurance• $500 annual professional development allowance• Discount on all Peerspace bookings• Laptop, high res display, and stipend to setup home office• Monthly cell phone and internet credit• Coworking membership if needed (in lieu of home office)• Flexible take it as you need it time off policy• Wellness Fridays observed company wide• Annual in-person, all company offsites and team-building events Apply tot his job
