DescriptionThe Government Affairs & Policy Manager will lead key initiatives on Fervo’s government affairs and policy team, advocating on behalf of the company and expanding commercial opportunities across legislative, regulatory, and policy arenas. The position is responsible for securing critical regulatory and policy outcomes at both the federal and state levels, serving as a key representative of Fervo to external stakeholders and a subject matter expert internally. With ownership of political strategy, stakeholder engagement, and external affairs, this individual will operate in a dynamic and high-visibility environment that requires strategic judgment, a strong network, and deep policy expertise.A successful candidate will be open, intellectually curious, and committed to working in a bipartisan fashion. This position will report to the Director of Policy & Government Affairs. RequirementsResponsibilities• Build and maintain strong, collaborative relationships with federal elected officials, policymakers, and key state-level leaders in priority markets• Develop and execute policy proposals and advocacy strategies that advance Fervo’s commercial interests and support the growth of geothermal energy• Partner with the Director of Government Affairs, state-level team leads, and external consultants to ensure Fervo’s positions are effectively represented in legislative and regulatory arenas• Represent Fervo in industry groups, coalitions, working groups, and public forums, including media engagements, to advocate for company priorities• Provide subject matter expertise on policy and political strategy in cross-functional internal collaborations• Monitor and analyze federal and state legislative and regulatory developments to proactively identify risks and opportunities for Fervo’s business• Prepare briefing materials, policy memos, and strategic communications to support external advocacy and inform executive-level decision-making• Collaborate with internal teams, including project development, communications, and legal, to align policy strategies with business goals and ensure consistent external messagingRequired Qualifications• Bachelor’s degree in public policy, political science, environmental studies, energy, or a related field• 7+ years of experience in energy policy, government relations, legislative policymaking, or electoral politics• Willingness and availability to travel up to 50%• Strong analytical skills with the ability to assess complex policy issues, develop strategic solutions, and manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment• Exceptional interpersonal and diplomatic skills, with a proven ability to build and sustain relationships across a wide range of stakeholders• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including comfort with public speaking and external representation• Self-starter with a collaborative mindset and demonstrated ability to work independently without territorial ownershipPreferred Qualifications• Experience with energy sectors such as subsurface, electricity, or project development• Experience working directly with federal agencies such as the Department of Energy, Department of the Interior, or state energy commissions• Existing network of bipartisan relationships across key congressional committees or state legislative bodiesCompensation & BenefitsFervo provides a comprehensive suite of benefits including medical, dental, vision, life, short-term and long-term disability, flexible paid time off, and paid parental leave.Additionally, Fervo offers an incentive stock options program, a bonus incentive program, and a 401(k) plan with an employer match. Fervo Energy is providing the compensation range and general description of other compensation and benefits that the company in good faith believes it might pay and/or offer for this position based on the successful applicant's education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities in addition to internal equity and geographic location. ExpectedSalary: $120,000 - $205,000 based on California locality, pay in other locations may vary.Fervo Energy reserves the right to ultimately pay more or less than the posted range and offer other compensation, depending on circumstances not related to an applicant's sex or other status protected by local, state, or federal law. LocationFervo Energy is headquartered in Houston, TX. This position will be eligible for some hybrid work flexibility, but regular in-office presence at either the Golden, Houston, Oakland, or Salt Lake City location will be required.
