Data Scientist - DeFi Quantitative Research Location: Remote - US, Canada and would consider candidates based in Puerto Rico Compensation: $150K - $200K We are a Series B quantitative research and optimization company that leads the field in DeFi economics. We manage market risk, optimize growth, and ensure economic safety for protocols facilitating most spot trading, borrowing, and lending activity across all of DeFi, protecting and optimizing the largest protocols and networks in the industry. We build institutional-grade vaults for decentralized finance and currently manage risk and incentives covering over $42 billion in customer TVL. We are seeking experienced Data Scientists to help new and established protocols better understand and optimize the systems they've built. In this role, you will work directly with the premier and most innovative DeFi protocols, developing expert-level knowledge of the mechanisms that underpin the industry. This requires a strong ability to perform in-depth quantitative research, manage client engagements end-to-end, and translate complex data insights into clear, actionable value. Responsibilities: Novel Quantitative Research: Perform in-depth, novel research into how to make premier DeFi protocols safer and more efficient through mechanism design, data analysis, and dynamic parameter optimization. Client Ownership: Take end-to-end ownership of client engagements, including scoping out work, managing client relationships, and delivering measurable value through your research. Research Publication: Draft and write engaging, high-quality research for public consumption to grow the company's brand and satisfy client requirements. Dashboarding & Visualization: Build and deploy easy-to-understand and visually compelling dashboards for internal teams and external client consumption. Deep Domain Expertise: Develop expert-level knowledge and experience of the complex cryptoeconomic mechanisms that underpin the DeFi industry. Requirements Experience: 4+ years of professional experience in a relevant quantitative or data-focused field. Communication & Client Skills: Extremely clear and effective communication and client management skills. Data Insights: Proven track record of drawing deep insights from complex datasets. Web3 Experience: Must be Crypto Native and have strong experience working within Web3. Technical Stack: Experience with data querying languages (e.g., SQL), scripting languages (e.g., Python), and/or statistical/mathematical software (e.g., R). Autonomy: Ability to work independently toward abstract goals. Financial Background: Experience working with pricing models, financial products, and/or different asset classes. Preferred Qualifications (Bonus Points): Experience with derivatives-style products. Experience managing external client relationships. Published or presented research in the space. Benefits Location: Remote-first —work from anywhere in the US & Canada. Home base in New York City. Compensation: Highly competitive packages including base salary ( $150K - $200K ), On Target Earning potential in terms of cash bonuses, and equity refreshers (in addition to your initial Series B equity grant).
